Cicadas and fireflies, nearly a normal summer
Hello, Readers All,
How has your summer been? It's nuts, right? The cicadas seemed to be slow in coming on this year, but now they're buzzing their hearts out every day and every evening there are fireflies all along the edge of the park. Just a normal summer as far the insects are concerned. Go for it, fellas, enjoy.
When we hit this point of summer, the angle of the light, the smells, the barometric pressure, the alignment of the planets all sing one song: TWENTY ONE DAYS UNTIL THE MAN BURNS....AREN'T YOU READY YET??? This means that my psyche is attuned to an event that was canceled in April.

And because no week is complete without one solid rant:

And why am I not a proud patriot?
But to tone things down a bit, let's go warm and fuzzy for my dear old hometown, Cleveland, Ohio.

Moving to my fiction contribution this week, this is one of the Immortal Six stories ever published in a traditional literary review. This one made it into "Black Wire Magazine" in Beirut, Lebanon. It has to be mentioned that this story was rejected like 20 times before it appeared in this magazine. I am honored.

AleXander's contribution this week is especially moving. I re-read it last week and told him that this was the piece that had to be in the newsletter. See what you think:

I'm going to get all bold and sassy going forward here with the newsletter. While a couple of regular readers (who are also good friends) offered to pay a subscription fee to receive this weekly newsletter, I haven't actually gotten around to setting up a tier for paid subscriptions. For now, I am including a link to Kofi that will allow readers to quickly, conveniently pop the price of a cuppa coffee into my PayPal account. This way if you've been enjoying the work and would like to show that appreciation, it's easy to do.
https://ko-fi.com/remingtonwriteThe real wonder to me is that 65 people, many of whom have never actually met me or AleXander, subscribe and read this weekly offering. You are AWESOME!
As ever, feel free to throw carefully composed compliments and rashly imprudent insults to me at: Remington.Write@gmail.com
And thank you. RW
