Bad Habits
Hello, Readers All,
I wonder if I should can that salutation. It occurs to me that it destroys the illusion that this is a personal little note sent for your eyes only. Welp, you'll let me know.
I don't think it speaks well of my character that I do get a kick out of deliberately poking the mouth-breathing pinheads who read Newsbreak. It crossed my mind to write something along the lines of America Deserves Trump if that nimrod manages to get elected again, but even I have some standards (but can you just imagine the comments?!).
At any rate, we're looking at roughly 61,000 impressions, over 8,000 views and 153 rabid comments on the piece I wrote earlier about Trump not shooting protesters.
After happening to stumble upon the now well-hidden National Debt Clock in an alleyway, well, it's a bit of a natural for Newsbreak. Right?
Opinion: Hiding the National Debt Clock | Remington Write | NewsBreak Original
My memory can’t be trusted — neither can yours, btw — so I asked The Google about the National Debt Clock. I was sure it used to be right out on Sixth Avenue at about 43rd Street where everyone could take daily note of what their families’ share of the national debt was. That memory is solid. Yes, the clock was out there on Sixth Avenue and the good nerds at Wikipedia confirm this:
It's not riling the nutjobs as much as that earlier piece did, but the one comment doesn't disappoint.
This one barely registered which isn't surprising but too bad nevertheless.
Sorry, Not Sorry, Bernie | Remington Write | NewsBreak Original
It’s a little embarrassing now to admit what a strident supporter I was of Senator Bernie Sanders in 2016 and again in 2020. With the benefit of hindsight and his highly questionable voting record over the past three years I have to admit I was conned. I am not comforted by the fact that I was among millions of desperate hopefuls who also thought the scrappy little old guy from Vermont was for real.
Now that you mention it, yes, these are certainly pieces that I wrote and published on Medium first. However, Medium makes it so complicated to even use Friend Links, that I settle for the easy way with Newsbreak. And, who knows, maybe you find the comments as hilarious as I do.
Going over to Substack, I found this not yet out of date letter to my dead friend, Peter.

I've got a couple of other pieces I'm playing with while Grace takes a breather. Be sure to get your order in for "Plague Year" while copies of the first printing are available. And a gigantic thank you to that darling Reader who left this review on the Barnes & Noble page:
While I'm slapping around in puddles and giggling at getting dumb people all worked up, my partner in Life and Art is creating powerful work that really should be getting even smart people all worked up.
