Sorry If You Had To Re-Confirm This Newsletter

Boring information: I switched newsletter providers because the other one confused me and I hate being confused.

me and an American Bully/Pit-mix named Sassy
Sassy is never confused

Less boring: this year, the comedy industry was dumb. Clowns covered in bees steppin’ on rakes-dumb.

So I wanted to share fun things I’m trying to do while this industry gets itself together:

  • Doing lots of live shows.

Aabria Iyengar, Kendahl Landreth, Chris Grace, Jordan Myrick, Corin Wells, Grant O'Brien, Sandeep Parikh, and Rekha Shankar on stage in front of a projector with comic book images
Art Begets Show (Sandeep Parikh & my monthly show) w/ special guest Aabria Iyengar!
Rekha Shankar dressed up as yoda standing next to Kel Mitchell
Revenge of the Sith Live (feat. Kel Mitchell)
Jordan Myrick, Vic Michaelis, Rekha Shankar, and Jacob Wysocki on stage at Vulture Festival
Vulturefest (feat. Vic Michaelis, Jordan Myrick, and Jacob Wysocki)
Rekha Shankar in a blazer, red shirt, and slacks with a bowtie in front of a mirror
… what could this have been? Hm
  • Cooking and baking. I made an OK carrot soup the other day but the picture is too ugly to share. Please trust me on that!

  • Writing projects for just myself. Brainstorms of TV shows, random live show ideas, stupid sketches, and revising my feature.

  • I’m in a stand-up comedy class and we have our showcase soon. I love homework so this has been helpful for me :)

  • Watching this video because it is representation and beautiful:

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zF-I9bdYdqU
  • Calling friends. I am trying to be better about calling friends randomly just to chat. I used to be AWESOME at that in college, and now I’m bad at it, and that’s stupid. Friends remind you you’re a human being and not an Output Machine.

So if you’re also feeling like it’s hard to know what to do or how to motivate yourself or how to learn to enjoy yourself even if parts of your life are standing still, you’re not alone. And I hope this newsletter is your proof. Did you watch that video with the dad? Go watch that video. It’s so freaking funny.

Thanks for reading!
