Quora Dot Com [with a VIDEO PREMIERE!]

Happy Fall! This is a time for eating a lot.

I made spicy tofu "paneer" skewers with tamarind chutney for a Diwali party and they freaking rocked.

But Fall is also tough because of a family grief anniversary. Grief already SUCKS ASS, and on top of that, my family is all Hindu immigrants and the Hindu death rituals are confusing for me. I always want to understand everything more, so I try to research Hinduism a LOT. But there are so many differences from Indian state to state, town to town, family to family, that I end up feeling more confused after researching. Do you experience anything like this? Or am I dumb?

I contend, based on my unparalleled sample size, that if an Americanized person who only speaks English tries to research Hinduism online, they will end up in one of four places:

  1. A website that has been poorly Google translated.

  2. A website full of vocabulary that is not defined, and each definition has between 2 and 200 other definitions.

  3. Quora dot com

So if you’re like me and try your luck on Quora, you’ll realize you’re in the Wild West. You’ll find a sad woman sharing a personal story that someone downvotes. You’ll read conflicting answers, each vehemently argued. An old Hindu man will yell at you for even asking the question. You will leave just as confused as you were before, albeit maybe a little entertained. Or sad? Both ;) ????

I vented about this to my Hindu friend Sandeep Parikh (The Guild, Legend of Neil, Desiquest) who had experienced the same thing on Quora. So we made videos about it and I wanted to PREMIERE them with YOU:

I hope it’s in some way relatable. And if it’s not, please tell me how to be you.
