Why Do You Engage With The Supernatural?
I knew some would not be interested once the Standard dropped but it’s needed because it’s a framework for discipline.
Here’s the thing, I’m never going to ask any of you anything that I wouldn’t or haven’t done, myself. I know sometimes just putting some rules in place to protect something seems like a personal attack but know one thing, that Standard is going to go into my MindCraft practice…which is not only daily but there’s also a weekly thing I do.
I didn’t write it just because I was tired of certain behaviors, I wrote it because I didn’t want those behaviors tainting my work and thus, I needed to use them as a mirror. If I violate one of those, I need to examine why I did it, why it was wrong and what to do should the opportunity arise to confront the same situation but make a different and better choice.
That’s what all of this is about to me, self-transformation. At first, it was to protect my life. I was hypertensive, pre-diabetic and on my way to an early heart attack/stroke or something equally as debilitating, if not life-threatening. I was also pretty nihilistic.
Now, most of the health issues that came with that weight, it’s gone. I’m bound to live a little longer, I’ve been eating pretty healthy for the last several years, it’s kind of ingrained into me now. I walk more than ten miles five days a week.
That transformation is physical.
I did my MindCraft Protocol for 45 days, turned my thinking and analysis sharper. Insults don’t land like they used to. The things that used to bug me just don’t. Sometimes a little something will resurface and I’ll just look at it and analyze it. I’ll note where something might have been an attempt to upset me but…nah, back to flipping through photos of Sunrises and Sunsets because I love liminal spaces, y’all. Just sayin’ that shit is relaxing as hell to watch.
Somewhere, I just wanted to develop a discipline. Why not deepen my magickal work and maybe build something while I was at it? I did that too and now, I think I’m beginning to understand something. Yes, we’re still talking about the same thing but bear with me. When you approach this kind of work from a psychological framework, you begin to see things. Patterns. You’ll be able to spot things about others and one day you’ll look in the mirror and regard that whom you see as a complete stranger. Your results will always be in your immediate vicinity.
You’ve changed you. You’ve transformed the physical, the mental and now you’re working on the spiritual and making sure all three line up and work in unison.
Now why did you do it? Here’s where the answers come flooding in but they all arrive at the same conclusion. The results. You can see and perceive those results. You can explain them in terms anyone could understand but where did the magick happen?
Every day. Every single day. Every time you got out of bed when it seemed pointless. Every time you put on a smile when your world seemed to be coming undone. Every time you did that one little act for someone else in service to someone else for the sake of it. All of that adds up. Every bit of it shapes you. It’s in the shaping of you that it’s happening. Not to you but for you.
Every little thing you write off as trivial. Every correct decision, like drops in a bucket until one day you realize, that bucket’s full and you need to empty it. You didn’t sit to watch the bucket fill drop by drop, you let those drops fill that bucket until one day, the volume of water was undeniable.
Every meditation, visualization, invocation, banishing, ceremony, book, text, writing, etc, those all build toward something.
What do you want to build?
People, I won’t lie to you. Building bridges is never easy work. Building walls? That’s pretty easy by any stretch. Sure, you can wall yourself off but not unchallenged. Not here.
Sorry cuddles, did you need a safe space? A big permanent one to keep out all the meanies from your power fantasy?
Well suck it the fuck up, Buttercup, you’re about to deal with supernatural forces and, much like in nature, some of them are like venomous snakes…they don’t give a fuck if you’re recycling your goddamn sandals and shopping at Whole Foods. They bite, they spit, they inject venom and they kill you. There are some truly miraculous things out there and there are truly malevolent things out there. None of them give a shit what you think you are in terms of your virtue or how entitled you think you are to ruling over others, you can not claim victimhood and victory at the same time.
Now go do your MindCraft. Do what I did. Build your first bridge and use it to get the hell over yourself. From there, everything starts to shift in a direction you once thought was impossible. Well now wouldn’t you look at that? You just did …The Impossible. It was so impossible, no one could do it. You concluded it in your mind so long ago and here it is…the first crack in the stories you tell yourself.
So why do you engage with Supernature in the way you do? That’s something I want you to ask yourself. You don’t have to answer it here. Just to yourself. That’s what all of this is truly about.
If you’re unwilling to be shaped, then this won’t be for you. If you’re not willing to undergo self-transformation on a deeply fundamental level, this is probably not going to be for you either. That’s fine. Go find your own path your own way, whatever that looks like to you but at least consider the MindCraft portion to clear the noise so the signal can come in much more clearly.
My reasons for engaging with Supernature are simple. I didn’t like the way I was. I didn’t like how much time I wasted. So I changed that. I spent it in a worthwhile pursuit. Worthwhile to me. That was all I truly required. I had my reasons for wanting to expand my knowledgebase and even that had to change. I love where I am now. Compared to where I was, this is just a damn stretch better. Once I’m where I want to be, I’ll probably be too old to even do a full LBRP and I’d be okay with that.
At the end of the day, we’re all here to be the bridge between worlds but first, we have to start building real, actual bridges between ourselves and others.
Naive? Perhaps.
Better than being a bitter fuck about it all, though.
