MindCraft

A Banishing of Chaos

Loki had been kicked out of Aegir’s hall during the feast.

He’d been clear, he came to ruin the feast and sow discord among the gods.

He’d walked himself back in, started by insulting Bragi, calling him a coward in so many words.

Idunna, he called her a harlot, same as he did Freya.

He drank and he went on, one by one, insulting the gods until he came to Odin. When Odin cautions him, Loki lashes out, calling him ergi which means “unmanly” in those days…that’s a direct challenge to someone.

Odin doesn’t answer. He remains completely silent. Not because Loki is right and he is. Odin did learn the art of Seidr from Freya and, in those days, a man practicing Seidr was considered “unmanly” and the slur ergi or argr was used to describe the one who caught rather than pitched.

Why would Odin not respond to such a thing?

Because it was true? No, it certainly was true. Odin had learned a form of magic that was considered taboo or forbidden but Odin also knew a few things.

First, in The Havamal, he counsels Loddfafnir about ethics, morals and yes, the effects of alcohol on the mind. He knows that, by now, Loki is lit up like the Rockefeller Center Christmas Tree.

Second, Loki’s mouth has gotten him in plenty of trouble before. His lips still bear scars from when they were stitched together and still, Loki hasn’t learned.

Third, Odin knows that when the two combine, there’s a recipe for disaster for the party who didn’t heed his words and his warning.

Then…it slips.

Loki reveals it was he who guided the hand of Hodr that threw the dart that struck Baldr in the heart and killed him.

In that moment, everyone realizes …Loki is the killer. The Aesir have lost two family members over his antics.

Now, Odin can act.

The Insult itself was nothing, mere performance.

Odin quietly watched the performance, not because it entertained him, that it certainly wasn’t. No one bought a ticket to Loki’s “grand performance.”

And now, Loki realizes as the gods are staring at him and rising from their seats, one startling realization; He’s Fucked.

He runs and the gods give chase.

The story of The Lokasenna isn’t really about Loki. You’re meant to believe it is and if you read it as such, you can hardly be blamed.

In the story, the figure everyone should be watching…is The Allfather.

He doesn’t take the insult. He simply waits. He knows Loki is going to fuck himself but he’s not sure how. He needs something, time. Enough time and opportunity, enough goading and he’ll do or say something that will prove he’s the hostile element.

He lets Loki unravel before everyone.

Loose, scarred lips sinking Loki’s ship while Odin’s silence in the face of attack proves why he’s Chief among the Gods.

This is the kind of control we need in order to perform effective visualizations, aid in concentration and finally, focus. Odin’s silence, his analysis and then, when the moment is right, you strike. It’s never going to be grand. Someone else’s stupid gestures will always be remembered, their performances rewarded and your honest efforts ignored.

Most of us spiral out over a few lost subscriptions.

I don’t go either way with it.

You can ignore the work being done here by me and the others who come here. You can do that, it’s fine by me.

The secret and the silence is where we build. Let me rephrase, nothing being done here is being done in secret. This is a very public record of what it is I do and it’s built, not as a show of what I can do, but more as a show of the possibilities that await you if you want to join in.

Before that list of books, the curriculum, etc drops this Saturday, we need to have a serious discussion because before you can get to that, there is a pre-requisite; you must exercise mind control.

Not on someone else, yourself!

You need to have that kind of control. When someone insults you, even if it’s true, it just doesn’t land. It doesn’t sit with you all day. It doesn’t ruin your day, your week, your month or even your year. You do what you need to do and you move on.

Let me tell you my own story. I’d been in another blowup, lost friends, kicked outta groups (which, let me just say, that part didn’t bother me so much…groups, y’all. We last for a few and then I gotta be on my way. Just how it is.) and I realized something. The words I said over and over again began to finally click.

I can’t do this anymore. They were the words I kept telling myself but never looking at them in the correct frame. Once those words “I can’t do this anymore” landed properly, I got to work.

I developed a system for myself. I went to work. Night after night, writing down the things people said or did that infuriated me or pissed me off, what my Shadow said in response and then how I actually responded. I listed all the things I did right that day.

I closed it all out with a reflection and, if I didn’t handle the situation well, there was a lesson for next time.

I never shared the system, nor did I share what I wrote down.

I never will.

It’s not made for your entertainment. It was made for me so I could get that Odin-level of mental control. I’ll be honest, it remains daily work but the heavy lifting, that only lasted 45 days. I was noticing measurable results in 11 days.

After about a month and a half, I made my final entry. I had control again and it felt amazing.

You could throw insults at me and the only facial expression you’d read is “Are you done?”

You could be pissed at me and rage all you want. You made my life a little difficult for a few but I ruined your entire day and all I had to do was nothing at all.

I began to understand what the beginnings of a strong foundation for personal power looked like.

Let me tell you one more story.

Like I’ve told you all, I work a job. It’s not glamorous or glorious. It’s a job. The fun we have with each other, it’s not like any other job I’ve ever had.

I’ve also shown up to work in my wig and contacts, initially as a joke but then because, everyone including me thought it could be a new look for me.

A guy came into my workplace and decided I needed his opinion. He’d already been going on about how I looked, how I carried myself, how I “didn’t give a fuck.” Then he asked about my guitar. Before I could even answer, he inserted himself into the conversation and told me what my guitar needed.

Then he said, and I quote:

“You need to just fix it the way it was, learn how to play it and earn that fuckin’ hair.”

Instantly, Mick Mars from The Dirt was in my head going “Fuck You, Teenager.”

He wasn’t a teenager but no one pushes my mental Mick Mars button…but me.

I stopped talking. I let him drone on, offering one-word responses and acting like his opinion didn’t matter.

When it was all done, I took him over to a single photo frame on the wall and explained why it was there. I told him about the prank war, I told him that the boss wouldn’t put her photo in there…so I stuck mine in there.

Instantly, the bitter frown of this older gentleman who claimed to once work in a guitar shop (and I will still do the customizations he disapproves of, he can cope and seethe) dissolved into a smile and a chuckle.

When the couple minutes of explanation and buildup were finished, I patted him on the shoulder and said, “See? If I sat here wringing my hands over what anyone thought of me, that wouldn’t have been as funny. Gotta jet. Have a good one.” and I walked off.

I didn’t wait for a reaction because I didn’t care. All I did was show him proof incontrovertible that he had no power here. He put on the performance…no one bought a ticket.

He’s been back in more than once. He’s never brought up my guitar again.

Yeah, in the moment, he pissed me smooth off but now I had to figure out how I was gonna handle that. Sometimes, it’s best to take the power someone thinks they have and then just walk away. Deflate them. Teach them in a few controlled words the one truth no one wants to ever admit.

You. Have. No. Power. Here. …final. Full Stop. End of. Understand me?

You won’t have to be loud. You’ll be the most silent person in the room because, while everyone is screaming, shouting and performing. You’re the one sitting quietly. You’re so calm that the chaos doesn’t register. You just look at it and then, when the time is right, you speak. You speak in such a way, they have to lean in to make sure they hear you. You won’t say much because you won’t have to.

You’ll learn how to walk away and still retain your power.

Your posture will change.

Your confidence levels will rise.

Over time, you won’t want to be on social media or anything where people are largely performative. You won’t be pissed at the people suddenly talking about doing something you’re already balls-deep in because they’re talking. You’re too busy doing.

That’s the most important distinction. You may have been doing things right all along but not understanding why the prick that sat there and acted like a rude jerk wasn’t right in doing that and it had nothing to do with you.

If you find yourself being reactive rather than pro-active, that’s a colossal problem. That’s noise in your head and, if you’ll do an LBRP, smudging, etc to clear the spiritual noise, you might want to take a look at what you’re feeding your hugr and your hamr for that matter. Garbage in, only outputs more garbage.

Improvement takes serious time and effort.

To give you a contrast I’ve given before. It took me six years to undo 60 pounds of damage I’d done to myself. It took me 45 days to undo and reprogram a mental defense system without guidance. When framed like that, I probably would have had a much easier time if I’d worked on the Hugr first and the Hamr next but, today, both are working together. I’m still fine-tuning things and I always will.

My birth chart was pretty clear that this vicious internal war will rage on the rest of my life but now, I don’t want that spilling out into reality.

If I’m to impose my will upon reality and alter it even in the slightest, most sympathetic of ways, I need a clear mind. I need a focused mind and I have resolved that I want them badly enough that the fast food had to go for awhile. The empty carbs had to go. Social media needed de-emphasis. I needed to be more in the books I have because, at the time, I had an org that would need me if the Founder fell out.

Needless to say, when that fell through, I didn’t drop it. I’ve had a lot invested in this both personally and professionally. It got immediately repurposed.

I didn’t plan it that way, folks, it’s just how things shook out. Not angry about it. In fact, I’m more free to pursue this in my own way than ever before. Some other person has to take up my responsibility now. Hope it works out for them but this is my baby now.

Not only that but I’m showing up with a couple hundred of you. Half of you are actually reading this work. To me, that’s a solid win. One if, I were doing my Discipline Wins section of my Daily Entry with NME, that would be the first win always listed; Magnussonhallir.

In short…you.

If you’re feeling powerless, I’m here to tell you that you continue to construct your own cage but the big cell door is open and there’s not a damned lock anywhere in the whole of the facility that can keep you in. You can literally walk out of that at anytime.

If you want to take your power back, you really should.

Let me show you an example:

The Moment You Take Power Back:

N.M.E. (No More Excuses) - Daily Drills 15 Minutes

N.M.E. was designed to remove your own excuses, find the cracks in stories you’ve been telling yourself for years and finally, to get the hell out of your own way.

Supplies:

This System

A Pen

A small composition book or notebook.

Top of today’s page in this little notebook should have the day’s date and general mood. If it was a great day, you can put something like “Total Win Day” and if it was a cruddy day, you can write something like “Total Clusterfuck” if you want to.

For today, let’s do this…

5/25/26: Turbulence

Value Log (This is what you protected whether it’s your job, your peace, your sanity, someone else…the things you truly value)

  • Held line on X Rule (Protected Job)

  • Didn’t lose it when Jane repeated a mistake (Protected working relationship)

  • Completed tasks despite business rush (Protected Professionalism)

Okay, there you go, that’s the start. Now you move on to the Shadow Check. This is where you write down exactly what The Shadow said in the worst moments. Whatever they said, write it down verbatim.

Shadow Check:

“Will You Please Just Fuck Off, I Do Not Caaaaaare!!!”

There it is. That’s all you need to write. This was the phrase in the head that was the loudest. Now let’s reflect on it.

Shadow Reflection/Lesson:

Client wouldn’t stop going on about X subject. When the moment arrived, I politely excused myself and wished them a great day.

Lesson: Continue to handle annoying clients with professionalism and calm.

Next, we move on to the Discipline Wins, this is your section. It’s not about bragging rights or anything so childish. You do shit every day that you don’t count as counting for something because, for you, it’s just a Tuesday but, over time, seeing these things will start to teach you what others see and value in you and that’s a critical distinction to make.

Discipline Wins:

  • Magnussonhallir still stands

  • Completed Tasks

  • Still got over 7 miles in for a walk

  • Ate healthy

  • Did my 15 Minute Daily Drill

and this just shows you a few examples. You’ll rack your brain for this at first and later, you’ll rack your brain for what the Shadow said while this Discipline Win list grows and grows. You’ll be tired of listing them after awhile.

Soon…you can’t remember what pissed you off because you handled it in the moment and you handled it well.

That’s not the end of it though.

That's the foundation. But once the noise stops sticking, you move to the next level: MindCrafting with the Stoics. Do a daily entry on their work and how it parallels with your own life. You can even use the same notebook.

Example:

5/26/26: Reflections of Meditations

Book Two, Part 1: Aurelius talks about meeting the ungrateful, the entitled, the rude, the hostile and the ass-kissers during his day. He’s mentally preparing himself to handle them as only he can, with all the calm, grace and acceptance of a man who’s extremely disciplined.

Parallel:

My own work with Magnussonhallir will eventually begin to encounter resistance. I know the reasons and can easily ignore them or counter them diplomatically (It’s an example, people, not an actual entry, okay?)

What The Shadow Said:

“Every one of these people deserves nothing. They’re the same dickheads getting rewarded for their shit behavior. Shut them the fuck out.” (Better?)

Response:

This shit is open-source, Shadow, I only own what I built for myself. I have zero control or interest in what others are doing with my system unless they’re using it to harm people. In that case, payback’s a bitch and her stripper name is Karma so there… I will handle it as I see fit. Not you. You sit down and shut the hell up. I’ve got this.

Closing:

Magnusson, Out.

That’s it, people. Do this daily and you’ll see results in as little as 11 days. People that’s only a week and a half. You can do this. Give yourself 30 days with it. If you don’t notice improvements or you’re already well in control of your faculties, then it’s time to begin. You’ve already done the hard work.

The rest is a world now completely open to you.

Protect your peace, because it’s the one key that unlocks your magick.

Protect your words like currency, because they are.

Protect your magick, because that’s the power with which you were born.

Reclaim your birthright. Build your future.

Start today.

It’s not about perfection.

It’s about consistency.
