🏳️⚧️⚖️ On Monday, the U.S. Supreme Court threw out rulings that had supported trans rights in four federal cases, and ordered appellate court judges to reconsider their decisions in light of the recent anti-trans Supreme Court ruling in U.S. v. Skrmetti.

🏳️⚧️🏊🏻♀️🏛️ On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Education issued a statement that the University of Pennsylvania violated Title IX by allowing trans athlete Lia Thomas to compete in Women’s NCAA Swimming, and the University agreed to strip Thomas of her titles and ban trans athletes from women’s sports.

🏳️⚧️🛂 As of Wednesday, the State Department is issuing some transgender passports with the correct gender marker when a person applies in-person for urgent travel. However, data will be collected by the State Department to indicate that an applicant is a member of the plaintiff class protected by the court order. The State Department has since released official guidance to comply with the order, meaning that more transgender applicants may now be eligible to update their passports.

🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️⚕️🏛️ On Friday, President Trump signed his "Big Beautiful Bill" into law, after it was approved by Congress earlier in the week. While the provision banning Medicaid coverage of gender-affirming care for trans youth was removed, LGBTQ+ people will still be disproportionately harmed by other provisions, including major cuts to Medicaid and new restrictions on the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP).
