Pride is about taking care of each other 🏳️‍⚧️

Fundraising has become increasingly challenging for LGBTQ+ organizations. Here is how you can help.

Dear Friend,

As Pride Month begins, I wanted to write something a little more personal.

When I started The Queer Trans Project, I wasn't thinking about fundraising goals, metrics, or building an organization.

I was thinking about people.

I was thinking about the trans person who couldn't afford a binder, nonbinary person trying to navigate the world without the items that would help them feel more comfortable in their body, and a young person opening a package and realizing that someone, somewhere, cared enough to help.

Like so many things in our community, QTP started from a simple idea: if people need help, we help them.

Over the years, we've grown far beyond what I ever imagined. We've shipped more tens of thousands of gender-affirming items across the country. We've connected people with resources, support, and community. We've shown trans people that they are not alone.

But I won't pretend the work has gotten easier.

Fundraising has become increasingly challenging for LGBTQ+ organizations. At a time when attacks on our community are increasing, many nonprofits are facing shrinking resources and growing demand.

And I’ll be honest, there are moments when that reality feels overwhelming. But then I look at people like you who continue to donate, share our posts, fundraise, and tell others about QTP. Then I look at our community. You honestly help remind me why this work matters.

This month, we're working to raise $30,000 to restock Build-A-Queer Kits and continue providing free gender-affirming care to people across the country.

I’m reaching out to personally ask if you can donate $10 today so that a trans person in our hostile country can get the care that they need and deserve. You can even start your own fundraiser and join our leaderboard to raise the most.

At the end of the day, I just want to say thank you for being part of this community, believing in trans futures, and helping us continue a tradition that has carried queer and trans people forward for generations by taking care of each other.

With gratitude,

Cielo Sunsarae

    June 11, 2026, morning

I've been out of work over a year because I tore a tendon on my arm and because it took so long to get the surgery I haven't been able to secure new employment just yet. I hope that I can start a new job this year. Transitioning along with being injured as not been easy. I really hope that having this care package your offering will bring my transition full circle. I am so tired of not being accepted for who I am.
