Managing Ourselves
Managing Yourself
This week's review over at The Productivity Lab (see below) has got me thinking about how I manage myself. As the blog MacSparky puts it, we're all makers, managers, and consumers in our lives depending on what you're doing at the time. But it is the manager who makes the final say on everything, even if that manager wants to do nothing other than binge that latest trendy show on Netflix for the day.
Each day we manage ourselves: our goals, our actions, what others want from us, our time and our energy. Our manager side takes all of these in for consideration and act accordingly. Sometimes though our managing side can be at conflict with other parts of our brain, but that doesn't mean we can't act the way we want, we just have to be mindful and know what tools are available to overcome those conflicts.
We are our own managers, and it is up to us to how we want to manage ourselves.
Project Updates
From the Blog
More Ideas Than Time - Do you feel like you have way more ideas you want to work on than time to do them? Well this is the post for you (maybe). In this post I explore my system for managing my projects and tracking my progress. I hope this short post can inspire you to find ways that fit your life to manage your projects and, most importantly, time.

Kyleban Boards Review - You read that right: Kyleban Boards, a portmanteau of Kanban boards and my name. As mentioned in a previous episode about our unusual productivity habits I've created a project tracking system that tracks both the priority and the percent complete. Is it a new concept? Most definitely not. We only went with the name because we couldn't find anything better, plus it's fun. In this episode we take an in depth look at the method I use and see how effective it really is. I made a post on Instagram a while ago explaining how they work.

You Are Immune Against Every Disease by Kurzgesagt - Once again Kurzgesagt has blow it out of the water with another great video explaining how things work. In this video the folks at Kurzgesagt explain how our immune systems are always trying to be one step ahead of infections through an awesome process that I won't spoil here. Biology is just amazing.

You Can't Do (Just) Anything by Judica of Lateral Productivity - We're often told as kids that we can do anything if we just put our minds to it, but that is never the case and has never been. From barriers imposed upon us either genetically (height, birth defects), socially (racism, sexism), or just from shear bad luck (spinal injuries for example) we are limited by so many factors. In this essay Judica takes a look at this aged old cliche and how we can remedy it.
Television
Mythic Quest on Apple TV+ - I'm hesitant on recommending TV series on here because there are just so many streaming services and I don't want to give anybody the FOMO of not subscribing to yet another one. With that being said I am going to recommend Mythic Quest for anybody like who loves video games, office comedies, and It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia. The series is about the developers behind the world's most popular MMORPG, Mythic Question, along with the antics of the workplace and dealing with a self absorbed game director, Ian Grimm (played by Rob McElhenney of Always Sunny fame). Plus, there's an episode in the first season that might be one of the best pieces of TV I've ever seen.
