Queen of Swords Press Newsletter - February, 2026

Thanks for signing up for Queen of Swords Press news!

A black and white photo of M. Christian.

Unfortunately, we’re kicking off with some sad news this month. Author/editor M.Christian (Running Dry) passed away unexpectedly of a heart attack on New Year’s Day.  They were a great writer and a lovely person, and we’re going to miss them a lot. Publisher Catherine Lundoff has a memorial post up here with some of her memories of working with Chris. We have cleared it with Chris’s brother, who will be their executor, and we will be able to keep Running Dry in print. We hope you will read it and their other works. There will be an additional obituary in Locus Magazine’s next issue.

January News:

We’re not up to a whole lot this month, what with it being dead of winter and Minneapolis being invaded and all, but that said:

  1. Feb 28th 9-12PM - Jennie Goloboy and Catherine Lundoff will be teaching “To Market, To Market: How Professionals Look at Your Manuscript” at the Loft Literary Center in Minneapolis.

  2. Michael Merriam has done two great interviews about his SSBA Horror Finalist novella, Terror at Tierra de Cobre, this month! You can read his interview on the Melody Writes blog and listen to him on the BOOKED podcast.

  3. And, if you attended Seattle Worldcon, will be attending LA Worldcon or have a supporting membership, you can nominate works for the Hugo Awards! Melissa Scott and Lisa Barnett’s Astreiant Series, now conveniently collected in one ebook omnibus, is eligible for the Best Series Hugo! We hope you’ll consider it.
