Cub baseball notches season opening win, plays Walnut in tournament game Thursday
Loyola's varsity baseball team, ranked 17th in the preseason by the Times, defeated Claremont, 3-2, at Robinson Diamond on Saturday in a first round game of the Frozen Ropes Tournament hosted by Bonita High School.  The Cubs travel to Walnut to take on the Walnut Mustangs on Wednesday for a second round game. The first pitch will be thrown at 3:00 p.m.

Loyola's five-time defending CIF Central Division champion golf team tees off today
Loyola, which has won an incredible five consecutive CIF Southern Section Central Division golf titles under head coach ROBB GORR, tees off the 2017 season today in the Servite Tournament at Western Hills Country Club.   The Cubs will host Windward on Wednesday at Wilson Golf Course in Griffith Park.

Defending US Lacrosse Southern Section champion Cubs back up preseason number one ranking
Loyola's defending US Lacrosse Southern Section champion lacrosse team defeated longtime Orange County LAX power St. Margaret's, 7-5, on Saturday in the first round of the Orange County Invitational.  The preseason L.A. Loyola's defending CIF Div. I champion swim team dives into 2017 season Friday
Loyola's defending CIF Southern Section Division I champion swimming & diving squad dives into the 2017 season with a dual meet against Mission League foe Chaminade at Conn Pool on Friday at 3:00 p.m.  The Cubs are annually one of the top aquatics squads in the nation.

Loyola tennis swings into 2017 campaign with lopsided victory
The Cub tennis squad opened its season last Thursday with a dominating 14-4 victory over Windward.  Loyola travels to Brentwood for a non-league match on Thursday.

Cub track season gets out of blocks with Mission League dual meet Thursday
Loyola's perennially successful track & field program sprints out of the blocks with its first Mission League dual meet against Chaminade on Greg Wells Memorial Track at Bob Smith Field at 3:00 p.m. on Thursday.  The Cubs will compete in the Bishop Amat Relays at Citrus College in Azusa on Saturday.  The first event is scheduled for 9:00 a.m.

Loyola's CIF Div. I defending champion volleyball squad to attack net against Santa Barbara on Saturday
Cub head coach MICHAEL BOEHLE's defending CIF Southern Section Div. I championship volleyball squad will host Santa Barbara on Saturday at Leavey Gymnasium at 12:30 p.m. in its season-opening match. Loyola, annually ranked among the nations top volleyball squads has won twelve CIF Southern Section crowns.  The Cubs were listed by the CIF Southern Section as a team to watch this spring.
