Loyola athletics - Northern Division lacrosse championship tonight at Glendale High - Cub Football - Nine Loyola grads to play college football

Number one seeded Loyola lacrosse team plays for U.S. Lacrosse Los Angeles regional (Northern Division) championship tonight at Glendale High against arch rival Palos Verdes
To say the intensity level tonight will be off the charts when top seeded Loyola (19-4) takes on longtime arch rival, number two seed Palos Verdes (19-3), at Glendale High School at 7:00 p.m. in what promises to be a fiercely contested battle for the U.S. Lacrosse Los Angeles regional (Northern Division) lacrosse championship would probably be an understatement. Suffice to say, there is no love lost between two of the top prep lacrosse programs in California.

In a non-league match earlier this season the Cubs defeated the Sea Kings, 8-7 in overtime, at Smith Field. Both teams are hitting on cylinders, so the championship contest this evening on the neutral pitch at Moyse Field will be one lacrosse fans will definitely not want to miss.

The winner of tonight's Northern Division regional will play the victor of this evening's Orange County (Southern Division) championship match between St. Margaret's and Foothill on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. at Newport Harbor High for the Southern Section title.

Senior Loyola face-off AIDAN HESSE, a U.S. Lacrosse Magazine Player-of-the Week, has had a remarkable career as a Cub. The Loyola stalwart won 13 of 14 face-offs against Agoura in the semifinals. If Hesse continues his incredible dominance, the Cubs will have a good chance to move on tonight.

Glendale High School is located at 1440 E. Broadway, Glendale, CA 91205.

THE CUBS NEED FANS IN THE STANDS!!!

Loyola volleyball advances, will play at John Burroughs of Burbank on Thursday
Number two seed Loyola defeated Santa Barbara San Marcos on Tuesday night at Leavey Gymnasium in four sets, 25-14, 25-21,18-25, 25-18 in the first round of the CIF Southern Section Division I volleyball playoffs.

The Mission League champion Cubs will travel to John Burroughs of Burbank, winners of nine consecutive Pacific League titles, on Thursday for a second round match against the Indians, who swept Santa Monica in three sets, 25-18, 29-27, 25-12, on Tuesday.

Burroughs poses a stiff challenge for Loyola, especially in the raucous confines of their home gym. The first serve is scheduled for 6:00 p.m. Burroughs is located 1920 Clark Avenue, Burbank, CA 91506.
