Loyola athletics - Former Cub starting for N.Y. Yankees, Loyola grads representing USA in World water polo championships, Cub face off commits to Tufts

Loyola grad starting for Yankees
GARRETT COOPER '09 was tearing it up in Triple A ball for the New York Yankees organization and was recently pulled up to start at first base for the major league Yankees team.  He hit a single in his first game. Cooper played baseball at Auburn University before embarking on his major league career.

Cub volleyball star named national player of the year
​J.P. Riley helped lead Loyola's varsity volleyball team to the CIF State Southern California Regional championship and the number one ranking in the United States.  See the story on the Stanford-bound star in the link below.

Former Cubs on USA Water Polo squad
See the link below on the USA water polo team, two of whose members, NIKO VAVIC and CHACELLOR RAMIREZ were Loyola water polo stars.  Ramirez was a standout at UCLA and Vavic'17 is headed to USC.
