Loyola athletics - Cubs win sixth consecutive CIF golf championship

Cub golfers bring home sixth consecutive CIF Southern section Central Division title
Head coach ROBB GORR is gaining legendary status, joining a club of other highly successful Loyola mentors as his Cub varsity golf team won an unprecedented sixth CIF Southern Section Central Division title on Monday at Lakewood Country Club.  PARKER LESTZ and CONNOR BROWN led Loyola as each carded a 71.  Loyola shot a team score of 369.  BRIAN ARNOLD carded a 74, NATHAN IRWIN entered the clubhouse with a 76, MATTHEW DEVELLE shot a 77, and STEPHEN BROWN  carded a 78.

The golf squad's sixth consecutive CIF championship run marks the first time any sport in Loyola athletic annals has won a half dozen championships in a row.  Brown, a junior, recently shot a six-under-par 66 to lead all qualifiers at the U.S. Open Qualifying Tournament.  Both he and Lestz qualified for the CIF Southern Section Individual Tournament and Southern California Golf Association Qualifying Tournament scheduled for May 18.
