Loyola varsity soccer team goes 12-0 in Mission League, outscores league opponents 45-4
Loyola has long had one of the state and nation's premier prep soccer programs under the exceptional tutelage of head coach CHRIS WALTER '93, and the 2017-2018 campaign has seen yet another superlative regular season performance by the Cubs.

In Loyola's final Mission League match of the season at Bob Smith Field on Wednesday, the Cubs downed Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 4-2, finishing conference play with a 12-0 record. Even more impressive than its undefeated loop ledger was the manner by which Loyola dominated its Mission League foes. The Cubs recorded nine shutouts and outscored their conference opposition by the cumulative score of 45-4. Loyola is currently ranked third in the CIF Southern Section Division I coaches poll and is likely to earn the third seed in the playoffs which get underway next week. The squad has an impressive 20-2-6 overall record.

Seniors AIDAN CUEVAS and DECLAN GAFFNEY signed letters of intent on Wednesday to play collegiate soccer at UCSD and the University of Michigan, respectively.

Cub Freshmen and JV basketball squads win Mission League titles
Loyola's freshman basketball team routed Notre Dame at Leavey Gymnasium on Wednesday, 77-44, to complete a 12-0 run through the Mission League.  The Cubs finished the 2017-2018 season with a 22-4 overall record.

Loyola's JV team fell to Notre Dame on Wednesday, but the setback to the Knights did not prevent the Cubs from winning the Mission League championship. Loyola completed the season with an overall ledger of 21-5 and a 9-3 conference record.

Over the course of the campaign the JV team won the Price Tournament, defeating Gardena Serra, 60-54, in the finals. The Cubs also won the Millikan Tournament, downing Mira Costa, 55-49,in the championship tilt and won the Los Alamitos Tournament with a 70-62 title game victory over Orange Lutheran.

Loyola varsity basketball hoping for playoff berth
Loyola's varsity basketball team which has an all-junior class starting roster had a bumpy ride through the second half of its Mission League schedule, losing five of six contests, causing the Cubs to finish in fourth place in the seven-team conference. Loyola (13-12, 5-7) hopes to earn a berth in the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs which commence next week. The good news is that 13 of the 15 members of the squad, and every starter, return next season.
