Loyola Lax downs Oaks Christian with ease to move to second consecutive US Lacrosse LA Area championship
The Lions of Oaks Christian fell prey to the Loyola Cubs, 13-6, in the semifinals of the US Lacrosse Los Angeles Area playoffs at Culver City High on Saturday. Loyola, now ranked ninth in the US Lacrosse West Region poll, has a chance to defend its 2016 regional title this Thursday at 4:00 p.m. at Manhattan Beach Mira Costa High School. Prior to last season's L.A. Area championship game, the Palos Verdes Sea Kings had been the Cubs' nemesis, but Loyola vanquished PV to win the region championship and went on to defeat Orange County champion, Corona del Mar, to earn the US Lacrosse Southern Section title.
Palos Verdes defeated Agoura, 16-8, in the other semifinal on Saturday night. The Cubs (18-4) are hoping to avenge their worst loss of the season, when they fell to the Sea Kings, 6-2, at the winner's home field in a non-league contest. It will take a highly focused, physical effort for Loyola to emerge victorious on Wednesday.
The title game is one you don't want to miss.
