Loyola athletics - Cub lacrosse backs up number one ranking, golf team looks strong as usual

Loyola lacrosse dominates in Orange County Tourney 18-1 win over Great Oak
Loyola's defending Southern Section champion lacrosse team is backing up its number one ranking in the Los Angeles region.  On Saturday at Foothill High in Tustin the Cubs annihilated Orange County preseason number six-ranked Great Oak of Temecula, 18-1, in a second round match of the Orange County Tournament to improve their season record to 3-0.  Last week Loyola dominated Notre Dame, 17-4, in Sherman Oaks in the Mission League opener for both teams.  See the link below for a story on the Great Oak victory.

Cub swim team swamps Chaminade
Loyola's defending CIF Southern Section Division I champion swim team swamped Chaminade 140-20 in its first Mission League meet of the season.

Loyola continues to excel on the links
After starting with a third place finish in the Servite Tournament, Loyola's five-time defending CIF Central Division champion golf squad defeated Windward 210-232 at Wilson Golf Course last week and downed Mission League rival Notre Dame,182-208, at Lakeside Golf Club in Toluca Lake on Thursday.  PARKER LESTZ carded a three-under, and BRIAN ARNOLD scored even par for the Cubs in the latter match.

Cub track runs past Chaminade in Mission League opener
Loyola's varsity track squad ran past Chaminade, 95-31 in its season opening Mission League dual meet against Chaminade.

Loyola tennis still swinging successfully
Loyola's varsity tennis squad  defeated Brentwood, 11-7, last Thursday to up its record to 2-0.

Cub baseball falters with lineup experiments
The Cub baseball team fell to 1-2 on Saturday after losing, 6-5, to Covina Northview in a Frozen Ropes Tournament elimination game.  Loyola rallied after being down 5-1 to tie the score, 5-5, in the top of the seventh, but Northview got a run across in the bottom half of the stanza to pull out the win.  The Cubs lost to Walnut, 2-1, after opening the tournament with a 3-2 victory over Claremont.  Multiple lineup experiments have been made as the team prepares for the perennially challenging Mission League slate which gets under way next week.
