Loyola grad Anthony Barr named to second Pro Bowl in three years
Former Loyola football star ANTHONY BARR '10 was named to the PRO BOWL roster for the second time in three seasons.  Barr, who was the 2008 Serra League Offensive Player of the Year for the Cubs, was a consensus All-American at UCLA and winner of the Lott IMPACT Award as the top defensive player in college football in 2013,  Barr, 6-5, 255, has started at outside linebacker for for the Minnesota Vikings since the 2014 season.  GEORGE PATON '87 was the Cubs 1986 MVP as a two way stater at quarterback and safety.  He is the assistant General manager for the Vikings.  The Pro Bowl will be played this Sunday.  Barr's 20 quarterback hurries this season were a career high and he led the Vikings linebackers in that category.  Barr is the first Minnesota linebacker to be selected to the Pro Bowl in his first three seasons in the NFL.

Cub basketball falters against Crespi, hosts archrival Harvard-Westlake Friday
Loyola's varsity basketball squad fell to Crespi on Friday, 79-68, to drop its league record to 3-3 and overall slate to 12-6.  The battle for second place in the Mission league is being fiercely waged, and this Friday's matchup with archrival Harvard -Westlake will put the winner in the driver's seat for a second place finish down the stretch.  Leavey Gymnasium will be rocking at tip off at 7:00 p.m.  Alemany (18-3) is undefeated in the Mission League and is unlikely to stumble in its quest for the title.

Loyola JV basketball in the title hunt; frosh 6-0 in Mission League
Loyola's JV hoop squad downed Crespi, 79-61, on Friday to improve its overall record to 18-2 and league record to 5-1.  The Cubs defeated an excellent Etiwanda team on Saturday, 62-59, in a non-league showdown. The Cub freshman team downed Crespi Friday, 67-60, to remain undefeated in league play.

Cub varsity soccer finding going tough; JV team undefeated
After routing Chaminade, 5-0, last Monday the Cubs' varsity soccer team was beaten by Crespi, 3-1, on Saturday.  Loyola is now 3-2-1 in league competition and 9-7-3 overall.  Meanwhile, the Cub JV club is undefeated after an 8-0 demolition of Crespi on Saturday.  The JV's overall record is 10-0-2.
