Loyola JV basketball team wins Los Alamitos Tournament
Loyola's JV basketball team routed Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, 72-46, in the championship game of the Los Alamitos Tournament on December 30.  The title-winning effort improved the Cubs' overall record to 12-2. JAMES KEEFE, a 6-5 post player, was named the tournament MVP.  Guard CJ JONES earned All-Tournament honors.  The Cubs travel to Harvard-Westlake on Wednesday to open Mission League play.

Cub freshmen hoop squad captures Redondo Tourney title
Loyola's freshman basketball team defeated host school Redondo Union, 60-52, to win the Redondo Tournament championship on December 29.  Forward GRANT ROQUEMORE was the tourney MVP.  The freshmen (9-3) open their Mission League schedule at Harvard-Westlake on Wednesday afternoon.

Loyola varsity basketball wins two of three in San Francisco
Loyola's varsity basketball team defeated Carmichael Jesuit, 66-60, in the opening game of the St. Ignatius Sand Dunes Tournament in San Francisco the week after Christmas, In their second tournament game the Cubs defeated Houston (TX) Kinkaid, 71-64, but fell to James Logan of Union City by a point, 53-52, in their third outing in the City by the Bay.  The Cubs (8-3) have a monster matchup against archrival Harvard-Westlake in Studio City on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. to tip off Mission League competition.  Alemany (12-3) is the league title favorite, but the race for second place is wide open in the seven team conference.  Loyola was allotted just 250 tickets for the Harvard-Westlake contest, which is always a sell out.
