Loyola's varsity soccer squad is off to an impressive start to the 2016-2017 season. The defending CIF Southern Section Division I champion Cubs are 3-0 after shutting out two excellent foes, Artesia,3-0, and St.John Bosco, 3-0, and routing highly regarded Long Beach Jordan, 7-2, in Westside Tournament play. Cub varsity basketball starts off 4-1; big game on tap this afternoon
Loyola's varsity basketball team downed West Ranch, 70-66, and host school Maranatha, 60-57, in the first two rounds of the Maranatha tournament before falling to Muir,72-57, in the semifinal round. The Cubs beat Pasadena, 66-53, in the third place game. Loyola recorded a forfeit win over Pius X-St.Mathias in the first round of the 76th Beverly Hills Tournament on Monday to improve its record to 4-1. The Cubs will be tested by Washington Prep this afternoon .at Beverly Hills High School. Tip off is at 5:00 p.m

The Cub freshman hoop team won the City of Angels Frosh-Soph Classic played at Price High School last week, defeating Palos Verdes, 53-44; Nabonne, 54-47; and Peninsula, 54-25, in the championship game. On Tuesday the Cub frosh blew out Lakewood Mayfair, 70-30, in a first round game of the Los Alamitos Tournament.

Cub grad named high school All-American
ELLLIOT SMITH-HASTIE '16, the CIF Southern Division I Player-of-the-Year in soccer last spring, was recently named to the prep All-American team by the National Soccer Coaches Association. Smith-Hastie is now competing for Boston College.
