CUB FOOTBALL - Spring season team awards and All-State honorees
LOYOLA TEAM AWARDS AS VOTED ON BY PLAYERS
Earlier this month a celebration of the abbreviated “2020” season which was delayed until this spring was held at Malloy Commons on the campus at Loyola. The Cubs went 4-0 in the truncated spring campaign and won the four-team Angelus League in dominating fashion, outscoring their three league opponents by the average score of 42-7.
Second year Head Coach Drew Casani made the decision to allow team members, who demonstrated uncommon commitment and resilience in the long wait for a season that was was long in doubt of taking place, to vote for their squad mates most deserving of team awards.

Jon Dawson/ Greg Wells Defensive Excellence Award: CEYAIR WRIGHT ‘21 (corner)
Offensive Excellence Award: PETE VANIS ‘22 (wide receiver)
Pat Jacobs Award: ANTHONY CLARK ‘21 (DB)
Lineman of the Year Award: SAM YOON ‘22 (offensive tackle)
Defensive Rookie of the Year Award: JORDAN HEWITT ‘23 (corner)
Offensive Rookie of the Year Award: JACK SUSNJAR ‘23 (offensive tackle)
Special Teams Player of the Year Award: CONNOR McDOWELL ‘21 (long snapper)
Scout Teams Player of the Year Award: NOAH BUSTOS ‘21 (running back)

FIVE LOYOLA PLAYERS EARN ALL-STATE HONORS
All-American corner CEYAIR WRIGHT ‘21 was named to the CalHi Sports All-State first team honor squad, and safety ZAKHARI SPEARS earned third team accolades.
CalHi Sports recognized junior running back TAHJ OWENS and Angelus League Most Valuable Lineman SAM YOON as among the state’s top juniors, and lauded sophomore offensive tackle JACK SUSNJAR as one of California’s premier sophomore players.
