Cub Football - Loyola senior Ceyair Wright to make college choice on NBC today
LOYOLA SENIOR FOOTBALL PLAYER CEYAIR WRIGHT TO ANNOUNCE COLLEGE DECISION ON TODAY’S ALL-AMERICAN BOWL BROADCAST ON NBC
It is a high honor for a high school football player to be invited to participate in the annual All-American Bowl all star game which is played following the conclusion of the prep season.
Unfortunately, the bowl contest will not be played this year, but today NBC (from noon to 2:00 pm) will highlight many of the young men who were selected to play in the all-star competition which features the best of the best in high school football.
Loyola senior CEYAIR WRIGHT will be one of the elite players featured. Wright, who is regarded as one of the top five rated defensive backs in the nation, earned All-CIF honors as a junior after the 2019 season which saw the Cubs advance to the CIF Division 4 finals under first year head coach DREW CASANI ‘91.
Wright has more than 30 scholarship offers from FBS programs. During today’s broadcast Wright will announce his college choice from a list that includes Michigan, Notre Dame, Oregon, Stanford and USC.
Wright was selected to CalHi Sports’ preseason All-State first team as a corner. The 6-1, 175 lb. senior possesses multiple talents. In addition to his prowess on the football field. Wright is an accomplished actor. He plays Lebron James’ son in the soon-to-be released Space Jam II. Wright is also an outstanding student who maintains a high grade point average and scored exceptionally well on the SAT. Following his sophomore football campaign in which he started at corner, Wright ran a10.8 100 meters for Loyola’s track & field squad. The range of talents possessed by Wright is truly exceptional.
It is disappointing that Wright and his Loyola teammates have thus far been unable to compete in a delayed 2020 football season, but today’s broadcast featuring Wright’s college selection will be a small ray of sunshine in these difficult times.
Loyola All-American/All-State/All-CIF Div. I defensive back DAVID LONG ‘16 was the most recent Cub selected to play in what was then named the U.S. Army All-American Bowl. Long went on to become an All-Big 10 corner at Michigan and is currently competing for the NFL’s Los Angeles Rams.
Do not be surprised if the career of the uber talented Wright follows a similar path.
