Cub Football - Loyola ranked 47th in California in final Cal-Hi Sports rankings - Loyola's all-time state top ten rankings - Recruiting news
Loyola ranked 47th in California by Cal-Hi Sports, CalPreps' final Southern Section rankings place Cubs 29th
There are more than 1,000 high schools in California which compete in 11-man football. In a transition season in which the Cubs were picked by some pundits to win no more than two games, Loyola far exceeded outside expectations, finishing the 2017 campaign with a 5-5 record., Three of the losses were by a combined total of just 10 points. To complete the season in the top five per cent of ranked California high schools says a lot about the level of commitment exhibited by the 2017 Cubs and their coaching staff.
Loyola was ranked No. 47 in CalHi Sports' final 2017 state football rankings, and CalPreps tabbed Loyola as the 29th-ranked squad in all of the CIF Southern Section, which has nearly 400 schools with 11-man football programs.
Loyola is third on California's all-time football win list
With 649 victories in over 100 years of football competition, Loyola, according to CalHi Sports, is third on California's all-time win list, trailing only Bakersfield and L.B. Poly.
