LOYOLA’S ZACH BOWLES NAMED 2022 ANGELUS LEAGUE DEFENSIVE PLAYER-OF-THE-YEAR - 14 CUBS EARN ALL-LEAGUE HONORS, INCLUDING FOUR JUNIORS, ONE SOPHOMORE AND ONE FRESHMAN
The 2022 All-Angelus League honorees were announced on November 28. Fourteen Cubs were named to the all-conference squads, including six underclassmen.

Leading the Loyola contingent was senior inside linebacker and team captain ZACH BOWLES (5-11, 205), who was tabbed as the league’s Defensive Player-of-the-Year. BOWLES had a great campaign in leading the Cub ‘Wolfpack’ defense.

Over the course of Loyola’s 13-game season which included capturing the Angelus League championship and a trip to the CIF Southern Section Division 6 semifinals, BOWLES made an incredible 150 total tackles, including 38 solo stops, recorded one tackle for loss, and had one fumble recovery and one interception. The tackle total is believed to be a possible school record. BOWLES played courageously in the playoff semifinal contest with an injury that would have sidelined most players.

XAVIER RICE (6-4, 200), QB, Sr. captain (completed 155 of 275 passes (54%) for 1,429 yards, 11 TDs)

RYAN TURK (6-4, 285), OL, Jr. (8 pancake blocks-second best on team)
