FOUR CUBS TO BE HONORED AS SCHOLAR ATHLETES BY THE NATIONAL FOOTBALL FOUNDATION AND COLLEGE HALL OF FAME
Four Loyola seniors, JACOB McBRIDE (multi-purpose), JACK FITZGERALD (linebacker), ALEX JOHNSON (WR/DB) and TOMMY VANIS (TE/WR/QB/LB) were selected as Scholar Athletes by the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame, and will be honored at a Foundation dinner. Vanis, the Cubs’ MVP last fall, is a finalist for Scholar Athlete of the Year.
MULTIPLE LOYOLA GRADS ON PAC-12 SPRING FOOTBALL ROSTERS
Loyola has four former players on the spring football rosters at USC, four alums on the roster at UCLA and one former team MVP is a starter at Washington.
Former Cubs at USC include starting left guard CHRIS BROWN ‘14, linebacker REUBEN PETERS’14, starting defensive end CHRISTIAN RECTOR ‘15 and wide receiver JACK WEBSTER ‘17. Joing that foursome as Trojans in the fall will be graduating seniors JAC CASASANTE (long snapper) and linebacker JORDAN McMILLAN, who is projected to play safety.
Loyola also has four graduates on the spring football roster at UCLA, former team MVP WINSTON ANAWALT ‘17 (linebacker), CONNOR BEADLES ‘17 (tight end), starting punter STEFAN FLINTOFT ‘14 and RYAN PARKS ‘17 (safety). All-Mission League first team corner ALEX JOHNSON ‘18 will be joining the Bruins in the fall.
In the 2018 season Loyola will have eleven graduates competing for UCLA’s and USC’s football teams.
At the University of Washington, 2015 Cub Most Valuable Player MYLES BRYANT ‘16 will be entering his third campaign as a starting slot corner for the Huskies.
Outside the PAC-12, former Loyola All-American, All-State and All-CIF corner DAVID LONG ‘16 returns as a starting corner for the University of Michigan.
Cub grads AUSTIN CHANDLER ‘17 and KAMDEN DARNEY ‘14 are offensive linemen at Syracuse.
Former Loyola safety ADAM PILAPIL ‘14 is a linebacker at the University of Wyoming.

Fresh off helping lead Loyola to the CIF State Southern California Regional Soccer Championship, senior DIEGO AVILA allowed just one run in four innings of work on the mound in the Cubs’ 3-2 loss to top-ranked Notre Dame on Tuesday.
CHANGE OF VENUE FOR BASEBALL GAME TODAY
Because of wet field conditions, Loyola's Varsity baseball team’s game today against Notre Dame has been moved to the Knights’ diamond in Sherman Oaks. The first pitch is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
