LOYOLA PLACES FIVE PLAYERS ON All-CIF SOUTHERN SECTION DIVISION 6 SQUAD
The CIF Southern Section released its 2022 All-CIF football team selections in all divisions on January 23.
Five Loyola players were honored on the Division 6 team. The All-CIF players who helped the Cubs earn a share of a third consecutive Angelus League championship and a trip to the playoffs semifinals are listed below:
ZACH BOWLES (5-11, 205), LB, Sr. captain (Angelus League Defensive Player of the Year, team leading 150 total tackles, 38 solos, 1 TFL, 1 fumble recovery, 1 interception)
JACK SUSNJAR (6-6, 325), OL, Sr. captain (team leading leader in pancake blocks)
WILKE WILES (5-11, 175), WR, Sr. (played in only nine games due to early season injury, 41 receptions for 465 yards, 4 TDs)
JORDAN HEWITT (5-10, 180), DB, Sr. (team leading 14 passes deflected, team leading 4 interceptions, 58 total tackles, 28 solo, one TFL)
ISAIAH SANDERS (6-3, 219), DL/Edge, Jr. (team leading 27 hurries, team leading 7.5 sacks, team leading 14 TFL, 70 total tackles)

All-Angelus League second team senior QB XAVIER RICE committed to Duquesne University.
Former All-CIF Cub KODI WHITFIELD '12 joined the UCLA football coaching staff as the cornerbacks coach. He previously worked as a grad assistant for the Bruins and served as the secondary coach at Sacramento State last season. He joins former Loyola teammate QB JERRY NEUHEISEL '11 on the Bruins' staff. Neuheisel serves as UCLA's wide receivers coach.
Four-time All-Pro linebacker ANTHONY BARR '10, a standout running back for the Cubs in 2008 and 2009, an All-American linebacker and winner of the Lott Award at UCLA, helped Dallas make a playoff run before falling to San Francisco last weekend in his first year with the Cowboys. BARR had a great eight year career with the Minnesota Vikings before joining the Cowboys.
Loyola All-Angelus League junior safety JAKE ARELLANO (5-10, 175, 138 total tackles, 49 solos, 6 TFL, 1 interception, 6 passes defended) was named to the CalHi Sports' third team All-Junior squad.
All-Angelus League and MaxPreps Freshman All-American Cub corner BRANDON LOCKHART, who was selected as the Most Valuable Defensive Player at the All-American Bowl underclass combine, was recently named a Los Angeles Rams High School All Star. LOCKHART's FBS scholarship offers keep pouring in. Among others, the uber talented 6' 2" freshman DB has received scholarship offers from USC, Oregon, Penn State, Arizona and Miami.
