Cub Football - Do not read this if the truth is a problem for you

AN OPEN LETTER TO THE TEAM
A parent who is regular reader of these emails, which are received by hundreds of Loyola football alumni, parents and supporters, recently inquired as to who the audience of these reports is intended to be, and if the messages are directed to a particular sub group of that audience. It was a great, thought provoking question.

So, with unequivocal intention, this particular missive is directed to the TEAM. No holds barred.

No one on the outside gives you guys a chance on Friday.

The history of your proud program is one that has been perennially defined by exceptional toughness and physicality. You have exhibited a desire to reach the level of those great Cub teams that REFUSED to lose. That ethos is the hallmark of the program of which you are an integral part.

On Friday you will play an opponent that is a prohibitive favorite to win the game.

You, and YOU alone, have the power to exert your WILL and to compete with the uncommon TOUGHNESS and PHYSICALITY with which so many of your predecessors (the eighth most victorious program in California prep football history) played over the span of more than 100 years.

The most important thing is NOT what the final score is on Friday night. The MOST IMPORTANT thing on Friday is HOW YOU PLAY THE GAME!! If you play Cub Football as it is meant to be played ON EVERY DOWN for 48 minutes, your chances to prevail will be enhanced by an order of magnitude.

Slay the dragon!! Play Cub Football!!
