Three Cub soccer players earn All-CIF honors
Loyola's varsity soccer team (25-3-6) won the CIF State Southern California Regional Division I championship with a dramatic 2-1 overtime road victory against San Clemente on March 10. Three Cub players who contributed to the title-winning 2017-2018 campaign were named to the All-CIF Southern Section Division I squad which was released on Monday. The trio honored included senior forward AIDAN CUEVAS (set school record for goals scored in career with 34), senior forward DIEGO AVILA and junior midfielder HENRY SMITH-HASTIE.

After falling to Regis (Colorado) Jesuit in the first round of the Anaheim Lions Baseball Tournament on Monday, two-sport athlete DIEGO AVILA threw six shutout innings in Loyola's 4-1 victory over Thousand Oaks at Mark P. Robinson Diamond on Tuesday. Avila also excelled in soccer for the Cubs, earning All-CIF Division I honors for his outstanding play as a forward on Loyola's CIF State Southern California Division I Regional title squad. Since joining the baseball team two weeks ago, Avila has been a difference maker on the mound.

Loyola's lacrosse team, ranked number one by U.S. Lacrosse in the Los Angeles Region, routed St. Francis in La Canada on Tuesday night by a 23-5 score. The 18-point margin of victory was the largest of the campaign for the two-time defending Southern Section champs.
Former Cub star Nico Evans will return for fifth year at Wyoming
Former Loyola All-CIF Division I tailback NICO EVANS '14 is returning to Wyoming as a redshirt senior. Evans joins Cub grad ADAM PILAPIL (linebacker) '14 and PAYTON LOWRY-SANDERS (defensive end) '14 on the Cowboys' roster. Wyoming defeated Central Michigan in the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl to cap an 8-5 2017 campaign. Evans had considered a graduate transfer before deciding to complete his collegiate career with the Cowboys.

Eighteen former Cub football players will be on the rosters of Football Bowl Subdivision schools next fall, and well over 30 graduates playing college football.
Loyola track 4 X 400 Relay team has third fastest time in state
At the Pasadena Games last Friday, the Cub 4 X 400 Relay team closed the invitational with the third fastest time in California thus far this season with a 3:23.18 clocking.
