Cub quarterback Sean O'Malley headed to Lafayette
Senior quarterback SEAN O'MALLEY, who finished his signal calling career with the Cubs with more passing
yards (4,199) than any other player who lined up behind center in Loyola grid annals, will take his field generalship skills to Lafayette College.  Lafayette is a member of the Football Championship Subdivision (NCAA Division IAA) Patriot League.  O'Malley is the seventh senior Cub football player to commit to play at the collegiate level.

There are at least two other players from the 2016 squad that should be disclosing their collegiate destinations in the next few days.

Loyola's 2017 football schedule complete, Cubs will play Fairfax for first time
It was recently announced that Loyola will host Fairfax of the Los Angeles City Section's Western League in its first game of the upcoming 2017 football campaign.  The following season the Cubs will open at Fairfax.  The Cubs, who are sixth on the California all-time victories list, have never played the Lions in football.  The schools have met on the hardwood numerous times, but in August they will inaugurate a cross-town football rivalry.

Former Loyola star and current Pro Bowl player attended epic Cub soccer match Wednesday
Loyola's soccer team netted an epic 1-0 win over number three seed Santa Barbara on Wednesday in the second round of the CIF Southern Section Division I playoffs.  In attendance was former Cub football star ANTHONY BARR '10 (UCLA All-American, two time NFL Pro Bowl outside linebacker for the Minnesota Vikings).

Barr's younger brother NICHOLAS BARR-MIRA is a sophomore on the varsity soccer squad and was an excellent kicker on the Cubs' sophomore football team that finished 8-2 last fall.  Barr-Mira will be one of the best varsity kickers in the Southland next fall.
