Did you know . . .
No Southern California high school has had more graduates play football for Ivy League universities in the last 25 years than Loyola. Thirty former Cubs played football for Ivy League schools in that span. During the last 25 years nine Loyola graduates played football for top-12 national universities Stanford, Northwestern and Duke. None of Loyola's competitors can come close to those elite college matriculation numbers. Loyola's commitment to diversity is one of the school's special strengths. The Loyola African American Alumni Society is proud of the fact that 14 former African-American Cub graduates are among those 39 Loyola student-athletes who continued their educational and football careers at many of the world's finest academic institutions. If a family cares about education, Loyola is indeed a great place to be.
Loyola was declared National High School Champion after its undefeated 1975 CIF AAAA championship campaign
The Cubs were ranked number two in the nation after winning their second consecutive CIF Southern Section AAAA title in 1963.
Loyola ended the 2000 season ranked 15th in the nation behind the talented exploits of CIF Division I Player-of-the-Year MATT WARE (UCLA, Pittsburgh Steelers, Arizona Cardinals).
Loyola won CIF Southern Section Large School championships in 1962, 1963, 1975, 1990, 2003 and 2005.
Loyola was a CIF Large Schools championship finalist in 1946, 1964, 1992, 1995, 1996, and 2000.
Loyola has had ten players honored as CIF Southern Section Large Schools Player-of-the-Year. Included among that esteemed group was halfback AL POLLARD '47, who won the prestigious accolade in both 1945 and 1946 and thereafter played for Army (West Point).
Cub quarterback HENRY BURGE passed for a single season school-record 2,820 yards and 26 TDs in leading Loyola to its latest CIF Division I title in 2005.
Standout Loyola tackle COLEMAN SHELTON '13 was the University of Washington's Lineman-of-the-Year in 2015 and was a Remington finalist center for the Huskies' College Football Playoff squad in 2016.
Ten former Cubs were on the rosters of Pac-10 Conference football teams last season.
Loyola's 2015 team finished the season ranked 17th in the state.
The Cubs 1996 CIF Division I Player-of-the-Year ANTOINE HARRIS was the only USC player since World War II to start at tight end for the Trojans for four consecutive years.
Loyola Gridiron Vanguard Dinner Meeting and Cocktail Reception - RSVP now

The Vanguard's second annual Dinner Meeting and Cocktail Reception will be held at Xavier Center on the campus at Loyola on Tuesday, March 28. The cocktail reception begins at 6:00 p.m. and dinner will be served at 7:00 p.m.
The guest speaker at the event will be Loyola's 1963 CIF AAAA Player-of-the-Year DON SWARTZ '64 who was a starting two-way tackle on the Cubs' 1962 and and 1963 CIF AAAA championship teams that amassed a 24-0 record and outscored their opponents during that victory skein 737-141. The 1963 title game at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum drew a crowd of 23,632 which witnessed Loyola's 21-0 shutout of the El Rancho Dons.
