On August 4th, Missourians will vote on whether to protect public schools and our kids’ futures or fall for the billionaires’ tax schemes. Parents, teachers, and community members all across our state are going all in to make sure our communities know what’s on the line and show up to vote NO on 5 this August. Regional “No on 5” Campaign Launches
We have a little over a month to save $1.4 billion for public schools——but it’s going to require all of us organizing together. Save the date and sign up for a No on 5 campaign launch near you:
THIS WEDNESDAY (July 1st) in Eastern Jackson County
Monday, July 6th in St. Louis County
Thursday, July 9th in Kansas City
Saturday, July 11th in St. Charles County
Potential Impact on Schools and Families
Amendment 5 is the tax scheme that would eliminate the state income tax and dramatically expand sales taxes. It would give the wealthiest people a massive tax break and would cost 80% of Missourians MORE in taxes while devastating our schools.
Research shows that it could cost MO public schools $1.4 billion——a cut of over $1,800 per student! That’s equal to the average salary of nearly 27,000 teachers or 46,000 support staff. See estimated cuts for your school district here and print a flier to share with others in your area!
While billionaires are spending huge $$ to confuse Missouri residents, parents, teachers and community members are coming together to fight back and inform voters across our state!
