Palestinian Voices in Games - Newsletter #4
Hello dear subscribers to the Palestinian Voices in Games newsletter! A lot has happened since our last newsletter and we want to share our progress with you.
Press release
We officially announced Palestinian Voices in Games via our press release on September 18th, 2025. This was met with great success and resonated with a lot of people. For many of you this may be your first newsletter if you joined after seeing articles or discussions about the project.
The story was reported by gaming publications around the world in English, French, Italian and Indonesian. We have articles in Rock Paper Shotgun, Canard PC (French) or The Game Machine (Italian), to name just a few. A full list of publications can be found on the bottom of our website.
If you have heard or seen a publication that is not in our list, please let us know so we can list it on our website!
Volunteer orientation meeting
We would love to meet you!
We are organising a large, online volunteer orientation meeting on the 27th of November where creators from each project will present their progress and discuss the kind of help they are looking for from collaborators. We will also discuss the PVIG initiative at large and how we function. We hope to have new volunteers join the team so that we can take on more projects!
If you have filled out our volunteer sign up form, you should have received an RSVP email in your inbox with details of how to join our volunteer orientation meeting. If you haven’t and would like to come to the meeting, please fill in the form now! Stop by to learn about the projects we are collaborating on and how you can contribute to making them a reality! We would love to see you there!
Projects
Yasmine Batniji - Pomegranates
The project is progressing at a steady pace with various volunteers helping out the team. The project is now searching for a tech artist. If you or someone you know is willing and has the time to volunteer, please reach out to us!
Iasmin Omar Ota: Being 2 (working title)
A new volunteer is advising on the project in order to help with production. Work is ongoing! The next objective is to produce a 10 minute demo.
Rasheed Abuideh: Dreams on a Pillow
Rasheed and his team have been making great progress on Dreams on a Pillow. They have also been touring festivals with the movie, “Still Playing”, a documentary about the challenges of raising his two sons and creating Dreams on a Pillow in Palestine amid Israeli army raids. It was recently shown at the Locarno Film Festival where it received the Pardino d’argento prize.
Unfortunately a movie screening in the Amiens Jail in France was cancelled when guards refused to allow him access unless he removed his Kufiya.
Yusra: RiYafa
At the moment Yusra is collecting testimonies from her family members to preserve the stories of their lands being confiscated. She also started to work with a new volunteer supporting her in the programming of her game. Their next goal is to create a vertical slice of the project.
We wish you all the best.
