Back from the Nebulas! And Observations About Life

Tadpoles in a rain puddle

Hey all. I'm back from the Nebulas, and hoping to lurk in WisCon's events as an online guest to support some friends that are speaking on panels.

The Nebulas were great. I had an awesome time and sold three of the four copies that I brought! Networking was also amazing, as were the awards.

What about the picture posted above? When I got home the same week, I took a photo while strolling in the neighborhood. Tadpoles swam in a puddle. They seemed fine, minding their own business.

I debated if I should move them to a body of water. The Internet advised against it. Moving a baby animal can cause more stress than leaving them be. That principle applies to frogs and toads.

The next day I checked the area. The puddle was gone, as were the tadpoles. Someone had filled the area with dirt, or perhaps nature had. If not for the photos I took, I might have thought they were magical.

You never know what you will see in a moment, or when it will vanish. I hope the tadpoles were okay an all grew up to be healthy frogs or toads.
