PLNT LYFE v4: Sowing Seeds
Spring is Coming
The seeds have been purchased. They will soon be sown to start their journey of growth before being cast out into the harsh world of nature as is their rite of passage. Also, I need time to build my garden boxes so they have somewhere to go.
Here's what I'll be planting:
- Beans
- Stringless Greenpod
- Royal Burgundy
- Goldrush
- Blue Lake Bush Bean
- Peppers
- Hungarian Wax
- Anaheim Chili
- Long Slim Red Cayenne
- Ancho (Poblano)
- Jalapeno M
- California Wonder
- Diamond
- Golden California Wonder
- Orange Sun
- Purple Beauty
- Squash
- Yellow Crookneck Squash
- Dark Star Zucchini
- Greens
- Green Wave Mustard
- Red Russian Kale
- Beets
- Deep Red
- Golden
- Candy Striped
- Sugar Pod 2 Snow Pea
I'm also going to get some broccoli seeds and see what happens. And will fill in with other plants that I buy instead of starting from seeds (want to make sure I have something to harvest this year).
I'll be building the raised garden beds using cedar fence planks and roughly following this plan.
Time to test the greenness of my thumb.
What Has Me Curious Right Now
How much shade is too much for a vegetable garden?
I have a spot I would love to plant some veggies since we are already planning on decorative planters but not sure if they would get enough sun. But maybe they would get plenty while also avoiding getting scorched during the height of summer.
What I'm Eating This Week
- Bean and Vegetable Posole
- Barley Risotto with Beets and Greens
- Falafel with spinach hummus, roast broccolini, and bulgur
