Two Quick Things!

Hey there!

Okay, I know I’ve promised never to spam your inbox unless it’s important, but I figured this counts.

First, this weekend is WonderCon. Today, in fact! I’m doing a panel tonight (Friday) called Neighborhood Nightmares, a Sunday afternoon session of The Writers Coffeehouse, and a later-Sunday autograph session. Plus I’ll probably be wandering the floor before/after those, wearing a mask and a clever t-shirt. If you’re going to be there, please stop by a panel, say hello, maybe ask a question or two!

Second... well, I’ve been telling you for ages you’d be the first to know what TOS is and apparently my agent broke the news this morning with an official deal announcement, so—before you read anything else today—let me tell you about… The Off Season.

Officer Ben Getty was too honest for his own good, bouncing from one big city police force to another until he ended up patrolling the streets and forest roads of Little Enoch, Maine. It’s an unremarkable town, carving out a small cut of the summer tourist trade and getting some extra business from the camp across the lake. And for Ben, it’s his last chance.

But there’s something about the town Ben’s new employers didn’t mention up front. The summer camp and its surrounding forest are the hunting grounds of a serial killer who’s stalked the woods for decades, leaving a trail of bodies that stretches back to the first camp massacre fifty years ago. Only a careful network of rules keeps the killer at a distance and the town safe.

Now Ben has to choose between not making waves and discovering what really happened that night half a century ago. Between obeying orders and learning the dark secret behind the masked killer. Between salvaging his own life and protecting unsuspecting visitors from an inhuman monster. And maybe most importantly...

...learning why everybody in town seems okay with it.

And hey, guess what? If everything stays on schedule, The Off Season comes out next April. Like, a year and two weeks from now!

See? Totally worth an extra email.

Hope to see some of you at WonderCon.
