Book Tour Update-- PORTLAND
Hey, folks,
Sorry for cluttering up your inbox just two weeks after the last newsletter, but there’s some stuff I wanted to get out to you as quickly as possible.
Because of a few miscommunications and misunderstandings (mostly on my part, but this isn’t about assigning blame) the already-unofficial-low-key signing at Powell’s in Portland has pretty much fallen apart. Nothing bad or malicious or petty or anything like that. Really, it can’t have fallen apart because it was never there to start with. Illusion! Do not look at my left hand!
But seriously, like I said, it was just some off-the-cuff communication from a few folks, misunderstandings from me, more miscommunication, and last Thursday night I mentioned it to someone and got a resounding “...what?”
It’s last minute, but I’m already talking with another bookstore in the area and I’ve got another one lined up to talk with after that just in case. It’s really short notice, from an ordering/ advertising viewpoint, but I’m hoping we can work something out.
Also, please don’t cancel any preorders you may have already made—we’ll figure out a way to make that work. And if you haven’t preordered yet, well, hopefully I’ll have something for you very soon so you can help convince this new store they didn’t make a mistake agreeing to a last minute signing.
Most important, I am still coming to Portland on Saturday the 15th and we’ll figure out a way for all of us to say hi and scribble in books. Even if it’s just me saying “Okay, I’ll be at the bus stop at the corner of 5th and Oak from 6:30 until...”
Well, hopefully I can work out something better than that. Maybe a Jack in the Box...?
More news soon!
