Gweithredwch nawr i ddechrau gwrthdroi colledion bioamrywiaeth erbyn 2030 / Act now to begin reversing biodiversity loss by 2030
Mae grŵp o ymchwilwyr dan arweiniad E.J. Mae Milner-Gulland (Athro Bioamrywiaeth Tasso Leventis, Prifysgol Rhydychen, DU), David Obura (Cyfarwyddwr, CORDIO-Dwyrain Affrica, Kenya, Comisiwn y Ddaear) a Mike Barrett (Cyfarwyddwr Gweithredol Gwyddoniaeth a Chadwraeth WWF UK) yn galw ar COP15 i ymrwymo i atal a dechrau gwrthdroi colledion bioamrywiaeth erbyn 2030, i’n gosod ar lwybr at adferiad lle gall ecosystemau ddarparu’r swyddogaethau sydd eu hangen ar bobl. Mewn galwad a roddwyd neithiwr, dywedant: “Rydym yn galw ar ymchwilwyr ledled y byd i ymuno â ni i wneud datganiad pwerus i arweinwyr y byd i drafod testun y Fframwaith Bioamrywiaeth Byd-eang. Os ydych chi'n gweithio mewn swydd ymchwil ar bynciau sy'n berthnasol i'r CBD, ac yn dymuno llofnodi'r datganiad, llenwch y ffurflen isod a byddwn yn eich ychwanegu at y rhestr o lofnodwyr. A post-2020 Global Biodiversity Framework is now being negotiated at the CBD CoP15, the vision being to ensure that biodiversity is valued, protected and restored by 2050. Key interim targets will also be set for 2030. The targets set by the Parties for 2030 will determine whether we can fulfil our 2050 vision.
A group of researchers headed by E.J. Milner-Gulland (Tasso Leventis Professor of Biodiversity, University of Oxford, UK), David Obura (Director, CORDIO-East Africa, Kenya, Earth Commission) and Mike Barrett (Executive Director of Science and Conservation WWF UK) are calling on COP15 to commit to halting and starting to reverse biodiversity loss by 2030, to set us on a pathway to recovery where ecosystems can provide the functions that people need. In a call issued last night, they say:
“We call on researchers around the world to join us in making a powerful statement to world leaders negotiating the text of the Global Biodiversity Framework. If you are working in a research position on topics relevant to the CBD, and would like to sign the statement, please fill in the form below and we will add you to the list of signatories.
