Tournament in Albuquerque Saturday, next Saturday in Santa Fe

News items

  • Jackets just arrived! Samantha will be handing them out this evening, then will leave the box at the club. Big thanks again to Samantha for coordinating all this — let’s show them off at the Albuquerque tournament.

  • Coach Jorge is offering a training camp before Summer Nationals all day, every day, the week of June 17–21 with a competition on Saturday the 22nd. If you are attending Nationals — or even if you’re not, it’s open to everyone — talk to him about your availability or send us an email, we need to make sure we have fencers who can make the commitment.

  • Anyone lose an NMFF hat in White Rock? We got a call from someone who found it, let us know.

  • The Japanese zen archery folks will be moving their meeting time from Sunday morning to Saturday, 3–5 pm. They will change this when we have tournaments.

  • We’re planning youth summer camps June 17–21, July 15–19, and July 29–August 2, but those dates are not set yet. Once we get the details and dates finalized, we’ll send out an email and have flyers at the club. Most of our camp attendees come by word of mouth, so your help is greatly appreciated.

  • For USA Fencing members — which you all should be, you need to be a member to fence at the club — there’s a sale on Nike fencing shoes until May 24. Code: usaF4024

Equipment recommendations from German Fencing Gear

Jens and Leticia of German Fencing Gear made the trip from Arizona for the November tournament — and donated a blade, glove, and repair kit as prizes.

Hopefully, you got to talk to them and see their offerings. It can be tough to figure out what gear is needed and what to prioritize, so we asked them to put together a guide with some recommendations — shown in that graphic above, download a PDF here.

You can also browse their site and choose your gear there. If you have any questions about sizing or anything else, or want other recommendations, send Jens an email.

Share your competition photos

Samantha is posting photos of our fencers at tournaments on the NMFF Instagram and Facebook pages.

If you'd like to share photos for posting, you can use this link to PhotoCircle to send them to her.

If this email winds up in your Promotions folder …

Gmail will often sort bulk emails into your “Promotions” tab.

To make sure NMFF’s emails arrive in your main inbox, drag the email from the “Promotions” tab to the “Primary” tab. You should get a prompt to “Do this for future messages …” and you should click “Yes.”

If you hear of others having this problem, please pass along this information.
