NMFF welcomes your support

As the year ends, and you may be thinking about year-end giving, please consider donating to New Mexico Fencing Foundation.

Dedicated volunteers keep the facilities, classes, equipment, and tournaments running. Your monthly fees go to rent and utilities for the club and Coach Jorge, and the shared equipment and Freya’s armory work. We welcome any additional support to expand our activities and address ongoing maintenance.

New Mexico Fencing Foundation is a 501(c)3 nonprofit, donations to the club are tax-deductible. You can leave a check with any of the coaches, and we will provide you with a confirmation and tax receipt. Please send an email with any questions.

Weather closure policy

NMFF follows the Santa Fe Public Schools for inclement weather closures: if schools are closed or have an early release, the club will be closed for lessons and open bouting.

Schedule around the holidays

The club shuts down for lessons and bouting the weeks of Christmas and New Year’s.

Last tournament of the year will be Saturday, December. 20 (see below).

There will be no classes Tuesday, December 23; Wednesday, December 24; Thursday, December 25; Tuesday, December 30; Wednesday, December 31; and Thursday, January 1. We start up the year again with open bouting on Saturday, January 4.

While the club is closed, fencers with access to the club may be around and ready to fence, so reach out if you’re interested.

Coach Jorge will be away Friday, December 19–Wednesday, January 14. Students he is coaching will be getting instructions on how to train and possibly checking in via video.

Referee clinic?

Interested in learning how to ref? Talk to Jack or Dan. If there’s enough interest between NMFF and Duke City, we’ll be able to bring in Mark Stasinos to lead a clinic.

Equipment recommendations from German Fencing Gear

Jens and Leticia of German Fencing Gear put together a guide with some recommendations for fencing gear — shown in that graphic above, download a PDF here.

You can also browse their site and choose your gear there. If you have any questions about sizing or anything else, or want other recommendations, send Jens an email.

If this email winds up in your Promotions folder …

Gmail will often sort bulk emails into your “Promotions” tab.

To make sure NMFF’s emails arrive in your main inbox, drag the email from the “Promotions” tab to the “Primary” tab. You should get a prompt to “Do this for future messages …” and you should click “Yes.”

If you hear of others having this problem, please pass along this information.
