Clarification: no classes Halloween but join us for fencing

Closed means closed for evening class

Apologies, clarifying — the club is closed for the regular evening class on Halloween, Thursday, October 31. Jack and Don (he’s back!) will be there at 4:30 for bouting, all are welcome to join.

Coach Jorge will operating on his usual schedule.

The same will be true of Thanksgiving, Thursday, November 28 — no evening class, but the club is open for bouting if fencers want to organize it.

And, again, same for the weeks of December 23–January 3, there will be no evening classes those weeks, but fencers are welcome to organize bouting and to schedule lessons with Coach Jorge as he is available.

Tournament Saturday, November 2 in Durango

Durango is having a tournament next Saturday, the Torneo de Animas Perdidas — Western Slopes Cup. They had a number of their fencers at our last tournament, and they're a great group. There are Y12, E and Under, and Open Epee events. Freya got her first Gold at one of their events, she and Jack will both be going, let us know at practice or send an email if you’re interested.

J.O. Qualifier if there’s interest

We need to have a Junior Olympic qualifier — and we need to know who in our club is interested in going. It will be held in Charlotte, NC on February 14–17, This will include Junior and Cadet events in all three weapons, for boys and girls separately. Info is here: https://www.usafencing.org/2025juniorolympics

You will have to submit your entry by December 18 to avoid triple fees. You also need to qualify, either through points gained in NAC or RYC/RJCC events, or through our Division Qualifier.

Only fencers who definitely plan on going to J.O.s should enter the Division Qualifier so they don't knock out another fencer who wants to go. We can qualify three in each event. If three or less enter, they all qualify. We will only be running epee events. Anyone interested in foil or saber should email or talk to Jack directly.

Right now, we’re planning on holding the Qualifier alongside the Rudolph Rumble event on December 7 (see below), since there will likely only be a few Qualifier entrants. If there is a lot of interest, we would move the Qualifier to the following week, December 14.
