Advanced camp continues next week

Starting Monday, Nationals Training Camp — not just for fencers going to Nationals
Coach Jorge will be continuing training camp for competitive fencers next week, June 24–28, this session focusing on strategy. These camps are to prepare fencers for Summer Nationals, but all fencers are welcome.
The training camps are $180/week or $40/day and will run 9:30–4:30 (training 9:30–noon, then a break until 3:00 for bouting). Fencers can also leave at noon and return at 3:00.
Coach Jorge is running the camp himself, we will not be putting registration on GoMotion. He has a registration form at the club or contact him at chiquetjl@hotmail.com or on Facebook.

Summer Camp registration open — help us spread the word
NMFF is offering day camps for ages 8–13 with or without previous experience. Students learn the fundamentals of fencing, including footwork, offensive and defensive actions, and proper equipment use.
Experience has shown us that most attendees come to us by word of mouth. We’re getting a late start so please share this information with anybody who may be interested:
» Register for July 15–19
» Register for July 29–August 2
We’ve got an ad on Facebook, please share!
Register for July 20 tournament at NMFF
We're running an Open Mixed Epee in the morning, and E & Under Mixed Epee and Y14 Mixed Epee in the afternoon
Santa Fe July Jamboree
Saturday, July 20
Open Mixed Epee at 9:30; E & Under and Y14 Mixed Epee at 1:00
» Register at AskFRED
» Register at GoMotion:

E & Under Mixed Epee
Y14 Mixed Epee
There are two parts to registering for an NMFF tournament, the AskFRED registration gives us our count and participant information, prepaying at GoMotion helps speed up the check-in; we will also accept registration fees at the event, but prepaying is a big help.
Very important — renew your USA Fencing membership July 1
Membership renewal for the 2024–2025 season starts July 1 at usafencing.org
Please make sure your membership is current — the club’s insurance requires that every fencer is a USA Fencing member.
Start planning for the 2024–2025 season
USA Fencing has posted the National Calendar and the Regional Calendar (also attached as a PDF) for 2024–2025.
Samantha has reviewed and identified the closest events in our region (Region 4), all in Colorado:
Sep 28–29 Air Force Academy, Colorado Springs (ROC/RJCC, DIV1, DIV2, Vet, CDT, JNR)
October 19–20 RYC/RJC of the Rockies, Denver (Y10, Y12, Y14, JNR)
November 16–17 RJCC of the Rockies, Denver (CDT, JNR)
Feb 8–9 RYC/RCC of the Rockies, Denver (Y10, Y12, Y14, CDT)
April 11–13 ROC of the Rockies, Denver (D1A, DIV2, VET, PARA)
Only events in the region go toward qualifying for national events, but fencers can fence in any region.
USA Fencing has not updated the Age and Classification Eligibility yet, but you can see 2023–2024 here. You may want to verify age before traveling to an event, learn about that here.
Equipment recommendations from German Fencing Gear

Jens and Leticia of German Fencing Gear made the trip from Arizona for the November tournament — and donated a blade, glove, and repair kit as prizes.
Hopefully, you got to talk to them and see their offerings. It can be tough to figure out what gear is needed and what to prioritize, so we asked them to put together a guide with some recommendations — shown in that graphic above, download a PDF here.
You can also browse their site and choose your gear there. If you have any questions about sizing or anything else, or want other recommendations, send Jens an email.
Share your competition photos

Samantha is posting photos of our fencers at tournaments on the NMFF Instagram and Facebook pages.
If you'd like to share photos for posting, you can use this link to PhotoCircle to send them to her.
If this email winds up in your Promotions folder …
Gmail will often sort bulk emails into your “Promotions” tab.
To make sure NMFF’s emails arrive in your main inbox, drag the email from the “Promotions” tab to the “Primary” tab. You should get a prompt to “Do this for future messages …” and you should click “Yes.”
If you hear of others having this problem, please pass along this information.
