NCFF Youth Newsletter December 14th 2023
Here's a few things that you need to know for the next few weeks.
1) White Elephant Gift Exchange this Sunday Night
This Sunday evening we are having our White Elephant gift exchange and Christmas Party. Sometime people are unsure of what to bring when they hear "White Elephant", so here are a list of Do and Don't:
Do:
Make sure that your gift is something that someone wants to go home with.
Bring something that is weird, funny, or nice.
Understand that this is more for fun than it is about getting a gift.
Consider the feelings of others when it comes to stealing something they might really be attached to.
Wrap your gift up so it can’t be seen until it’s unwrapped.
Don’t:
Bring garbage, offensive things, or anything harmful.
Spend a lot of money, if any, on this gift.
Make fun of anyone’s gift.
Complain about the gift you get.
This is going to be a fun event and I always look forward to these things.
2) December Sundays
On December 24th there will be two family services. One will be at 3pm and the other at 5pm. The following Sunday December 31st there will be a pancake breakfast at 9am and we're encouraing anyone who wants to to wear PJ's to the service. Since these holidays falls on Sundays there will be nothing additional for youth on these two dates. We will resume our Sunday morning and Sunday evening meetings on January 7th 2024.
3) Student Dinners 2024
So many of you were generous and brought food for our students throughout the school year. As a new year is heading our way we're asking once again for anyone to is able to bring some food for Sunday nights. It can be anything (and I do mean anything) from cereal, to pizza, to spaghetti, to a gourmet 5-course meal. Pretty much what ever you bring they will consume. If you want to sign up you can do so by clicking here. Please feel free to send this link to anyone you think might have the capacity to help serve the youth group in this way. I deeply appreciate how much this church loves its students.
4) Dunes Bible Camp High School Retreat
I've been in contact with Dunes Bible Camp, just across the river in Long Beach, WA and they are hosting a High School Winter Retreat on January 12th-15 over MLK Jr weekend. If you want to find out more information and to register click here. If there are enough students from NCFF who sign up I'll go up with them. If your family/student is going to sign up please let me know so I can plan accordingly.
5) Last but not least...
Thank you to everyone who made it this far. When we reconvene in January we'll be launching two new studies. On Sunday morning we'll be going through the Book of Hebrews, a book that I was told, rarely gets taught because of it's theological complexities. I'm looking forward to diving deep into that book. And stay tuned for a newsletter in January where I'll send out the details of our Sunday night teaching series. I look forward to even more events, retreats, camps, and experiences in youth in the upcoming year. Remember no matter what your level of involvement is in youth ministry here at NCFF, please be praying for us. We're seeing growth and depth happen here and that's only possible though Him who can do all things.
