Heyo, folks. NAAN here again, never maintaining linear consistency for her posts. But this time, it's a short one!
(in comparison to my novel-length ones)
In case you didn't know, I am the founder of the comic collective Aradia, which is dedicated to that niche genre of magical girls. (Think Sailor Moon or Madoka Magica if you need a basic example.) Well, our collective has been hard at work, with collective members and non-collective members, at creating something that I think is pretty fun:
ARADIA BEAT, a new magazine anthology dedicated to magical girls! We're doing a Kickstarter campaign for the first volume and thankfully, the book itself is fully completed. I've been laying out and designing the book myself, in addition to contributing a short story set in the Ara & Celi universe, so imagine me as a headless chicken (which is every other day, anyway!)
In the first two days, we received about $1,000 quickly, considered a fresh favorite by Kickstarter before we got tagged with their "#ProjectWeLove"! Cool! But uh, the campaign has stagnated. Welp.
Sucks, because I thought, after the momentum we had, that at least we would have reached the first stretch goal...
Sending out press releases hasn't been so hot; a couple of places clearly have a preference over what campaigns to announce, considering I saw two today that came after us but you didn't hear that from little petty ol' me. It's fine, it's the way of the game, I suppose.
(Just nobody come complaining about how there are never certain ventures popping up when they do.)
Oops, that was more pettiness lol. I can't help it; I always have low expectations for everything but considering the support we've gotten from folks, I started to have hope (gasp) that this would grow a little bit bigger and reach other circles. Ah, well.
But there are two places that said they'd help me promote, so I'm hoping that with their help, we can get there! (Sparkleside Chats with Ayu and Gonzo.moe, if you're curious.)
That said, 10 days left, so anything could still happen. If any of you are interested in the Kickstarter, please consider checking it out. If you can't afford any of the tiers, then please share the link! Anything helps us at this point, I'm serious. And if you got any concerns or questions, just let your old pal NAAN know at admin@aradiacollective.com and we'll get to ya. :D
Thanks, folks! I'll try to announce some stuff I think I brought up last newsletter, and let ya know about some streams I'm hoping to do...eventually. (I planned to stream in January; clearly, I was too bold to assume I could.)
