Gentle reminders I needed this week (and you might, too)
No spoons today, try again next time.
Hello my friends!
This was supposed to be a ballet conditioning week, but I’m low on energy, so the next session will instead be on Friday, May 23 at 12:00.
I’m pretty good at pushing through fatigue when things need to get done, but I realized that this doesn’t have to. If you’re hankering for some body care and a pretty good inner thigh workout in the meantime, you can check out this recording.
Sometimes you get to aim your life towards resilience — I’ve felt really lucky to be able to take a little time for that, but I’ve also had to convince myself that it’s ok to do so. I’ve needed these reminders lately and I’m sharing them in case you could use them, too.
Doing more isn’t better than taking a break.
We rest so we can keep going.
We take care of our bodies and minds to be ready for what comes next.
We find joy where we can, because it’s our right, and sometimes a form of resistance.
We find ways to create, express, and practise our art because it carries our humanity.
On the practical side, rest isn’t just a treat after working hard – it’s HOW you get stronger. All that hard work doesn’t take its full effect until you’ve given your body and mind the chance to recover.
I’m spending today cozied up with a cup of tea and dreaming of what comes next. Send me your questions and conundrums about spotting and I’ll cook up something special for you!
Take it easy ballet friends,
Natasha
P.S. Don’t worry, FUNdamental Movement folks, I’m saving some energy for Saturday, and I’m coming for your bottom ribs!
