Did you forget this important step, too?
5 questions to ask yourself if you've left this one out.
It's a month of transition in my world.
We wrapped up level 2 of FUNdamental Movement for Ballet on Saturday, with dancers rocking their self-assessments – hooray for pliés you can count on, getting back into class feeling confident, and finding out you can do more than you thought! 🥳
I've been looking at how far I've come, as well…
Eighteen months ago, a COVID infection left me mostly bedbound and unable to tolerate exertion. It's taken a lot of learning and incredibly precise rehab to get me where I am now (not cured, but moving forward). Even so, I need reminders to acknowledge my hard and work how far I've come, and that feels pretty darn similar to my dancing days.
So much of our work in ballet is noticing what's going in our bodies, and making little adjustments. It's one thing after another, after another, and it's easy to get carried away without pausing to enjoy what you've achieved.
So I have a couple of questions for you, :
What were you working on a month, or six months ago? If you don't remember, maybe your dance journal has a clue.
How are you approaching that challenge now?
What artistic choices have you made in your dancing lately?
Has there been a dance step, moment in class, or piece of music that made you feel like YOU?
What's one thing from your dance journey that you're really proud of?
I would LOVE to hear your responses to some or all of these questions – hit reply and brag about yourself!
I'm so proud of you (even if you forget to be),
Natasha
