We’ve been especially busy over the last few months so thanks for your ongoing support whilst the team focus on improvements which we’re excited to get your feedback on.

Algorithm Improvements
We’re shipping a major update over the next few weeks which significantly improves the relevancy of results. Better understanding of the context and intent behind your queries should enhance your discovery of the web. We’d love to get your feedback so please see the Community page if you’d like to help with testing.
Ethical Search
We're officially the most ethical search engine with the highest score across a range of categories. From climate responsibility and privacy protections to online safety and tax conduct, research by Ethical Consumer validates our founding mission to "do the right thing". Ethical choices are rarely the easy ones so thanks for supporting the things that matter!
AI Summaries
Our stance on AI-generated answers remains the same: Mojeek is Not an Answer Engine. Whilst Google and others morph into AI answer engines, we will always connect you to the web without mediation. Google’s “sweeping set of changes” erode privacy, lack transparency and increase environmental impact. Our summaries support search, not supplant it, are opt-in and include multiple sources from the search results presented with or without the summary.
ALTCHA Implementation
Automated searches are becoming increasingly problematic for the industry so we had to implement ALTCHA to manage the bots. It wasn't a decision we took lightly but we had no choice but to proactively deal with the issue. It's early days and we're making adjustments which hopefully improve the experience so thanks for your patience.
Alternative Tech
It’s great to see so many people switching to Big Tech alternatives as there’s an amazing choice out there. From Mail and Messaging to Social and Video, dozens of lists and recommendations are helping people make the switch. Check out our Switch to Alternative Search Engines post. Supporting genuine alternatives isn't just about sovereignty, security and sustainability, it's about maintaining a diverse and resilient information ecosystem.
Product Ads
We’re testing shopping results for certain product searches (e.g. “trainers”) in some countries so you may have seen relevant ads at the top of the page. As you know, we don’t generally have advertising as our API generates income however limited ads help maintain our technology and invest in improvements. We chose these types of ads for their relevancy and they hopefully add value to people shopping for certain products.
History of Search
In case you missed it, A Brief History of Searching from Colin, our recently retired CEO, explores our shared human history of seeking information. From pre-literacy to the rise of the internet, text is more than recorded knowledge, it’s our history of freedom to pursue questions without being watched. Search, at its best, is decentralising. It teaches triangulation. It exposes you to different perspectives.
