You know how it is when you're trying to turn things around, but it takes a bit of time to see the results? That's pretty much where Manx Care is at right now. They're facing some tough criticism from doctors, courtesy of the British Medical Association's latest survey. Manx Radio

New elective surgical unit will be 'nice controlled environment'
You know how we're always talking about the need for more medical facilities on the island? Well, it looks like Noble's Hospital has taken a big step in the right direction. They've just set up a brand new unit specifically for elective surgeries, and I have to say, it sounds like a real game-changer. Manx Radio

Children's play area at Castletown bowling green to remain closed
You know how the kids have been itching to get back to the play area at the Castletown bowling green? Well, it's going to be a bit of a wait still, I'm afraid. The Castletown Commissioners have decided to keep it closed until they can get the refurbishment and new equipment sorted. Manx Radio
Drug dealer who waved knife at ex-partner jailed
You won't believe the latest from Douglas Courthouse. A Pulrose resident, Kyle Wright, has just been handed a hefty sentence of four years and eight months for his involvement in a string of rather unsavory activities. It all started when police searched the address he was staying at back in October 2024 and found a stash of cannabis and ketamine worth a small fortune. Manx Radio

Island warned to expect heavy rain this afternoon
You know how it is on a Sunday afternoon - you're hoping for a relaxing day, maybe a walk or a spot of gardening. Well, forget that for now, because the weather folks are telling us to batten down the hatches. As of lunchtime today, a yellow warning for heavy rain has kicked in, and it's going to be with us until the early hours of tomorrow morning. Manx Radio

Jurby landowner working with planning and Bus Vannin on future shelter provision
You know how it is when you've got a piece of land and there's something on it that you didn't exactly ask for? That's what happened to a landowner in Jurby, who found himself with a bus shelter on his property when he bought it. At first, he didn't think much of it, but over time, he's actually been taking care of the thing, keeping it tidy and whatnot. Manx Radio

'We wouldn’t have it any other way’
The joys of being a racing mum - I'm sure it's a thrill a minute, said no one ever. But seriously, have you ever stopped to think about the parents of our island's talented young riders? I caught up with two mums who know the highs and lows all too well: Catriona McIntosh Thomson and Jayne Simpson. Manx Radio

Ramsey Tesco to 'open as normal' following incident
So, you might have heard there was a bit of a commotion outside the Tesco in Ramsey yesterday. Apparently, a bloke was assaulted near the store on Bowring Road, and the police had to swoop in. I'm told both regular officers and the firearms team were called to the scene, just to be on the safe side. Manx Radio

What do you think of pharmacy services on Island?
The powers that be want to know what you think about pharmacy services on the Island. They've launched a survey to gather your thoughts on how well our community and hospital pharmacies are doing. Millennium Bridge overnight closures this week
You know how we love our Millennium Bridge in Douglas, but it's not getting any younger. In fact, it's been faithfully serving us since 1999, and like any good machine, it needs a bit of TLC now and then. This week, it's getting some essential maintenance work done, which means it'll be closed to both vehicles and pedestrians overnight. Manx Radio

FC Isle of Man secure win at home
The beautiful game was in full swing at The Bowl on Saturday, and our very own FC Isle of Man came out on top with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Euxton Villa. I suppose you could say it was a bit of a nail-biter, but in the end, the Ravens managed to edge it. The decisive moment arrived in the 73rd minute, courtesy of a bit of luck and a Jacob Crook shot that took a deflection on its way into the net. Manx Radio Sport
