🔴 Island warned to expect heavy rain this afternoon
You know how it is on a Sunday afternoon - you're thinking of putting your feet up and enjoying a quiet one, but the weather's got other plans. As of midday today, we're under a yellow weather warning, which means we're in for a right old soaking. The forecast is looking pretty gloomy, with anywhere between 5 and 20 millimeters of rain expected to come down this afternoon. Manx Radio

Jurby landowner working with planning and Bus Vannin on future shelter provision
You know how it is when you've got a piece of land and there's something on it that you didn't exactly plan for? That's what's been going on with a landowner up in Jurby, who's been dealing with a bus shelter that's been a bit of a bone of contention. Apparently, when he first bought the land, he didn't think much of the shelter, but over time, he's been keeping it tidy and whatnot. Manx Radio

'We wouldn’t have it any other way’
The TT and MGP - a thrilling spectacle for spectators, but for the parents of these daredevil riders, it's a whole different story. I caught up with two local mums, Catriona and Jayne, whose sons Grant and Marcus have taken the Mountain Course by storm. As the mothers of these talented young riders, they've learned to put their own nerves aside and support their children's passion for racing. Manx Radio

Ramsey Tesco to 'open as normal' following incident
So, you might've heard there was a bit of a commotion at the Tesco in Ramsey yesterday. Apparently, someone reported an assault near the store on Bowring Road, and the police had to swing into action. They sent both regular officers and some specialized firearms folks to check it out. Manx Radio

What do you think of pharmacy services on Island?
So, have you ever stopped to think about the state of pharmacy services on the Island? Well, now's your chance to have your say. The government's launched a public survey to gather feedback on how our community and hospital pharmacies are doing. Manx Radio

Millennium Bridge overnight closures this week
You know how we love our Millennium Bridge, but it's not getting any younger. In fact, it's been faithfully serving us since 1999, and like any trusty old friend, it needs a bit of TLC now and then. This week, it's getting some essential maintenance work done, which means it'll be closed to both pedestrians and vehicles overnight. Manx Radio

Castletown Commissioners mark 130th anniversary of Poulsom Park
You won't believe what's been going on in Castletown lately. It's just been 130 years since Poulsom Park was gifted to the town, and to mark the occasion, the Commissioners decided to get planting. A ceremony was held, and I'm told it was a lovely affair, with two rather impressive red oak trees being added to the park. Manx Radio

Council says less than 2% of homes are empty
You know, it's always interesting to see the numbers on empty homes around the island. I was chatting with a friend who's involved with the council, and apparently, their latest meeting shed some light on the situation. It turns out that only a tiny fraction of our local authority's housing stock is actually sitting vacant - we're talking less than 2%, to be exact. 3FM

Tender process on sea wall to start this year, says DOI
You know how it is when you're waiting for something to happen, and it feels like it's taking forever? Well, it looks like we're finally getting some movement on that sea wall project near the Bottleneck Car Park on Loch Promenade. Someone had asked the Department of Infrastructure when we could expect the overtopping wall to be finished, and it turns out they're planning to get the ball rolling soon. 3FM

Firefighters tackle 'severe' garage blaze this morning
You won't believe the commotion that broke out in Onchan this morning. Just after 4 am, the fire crew from Douglas rushed to Birch Hill to tackle a pretty intense garage fire. Luckily, everyone in the house had managed to get out safely, and the blaze was mostly contained to the garage. 3FM

Exhausted reserves forced 23.6% rate rise, say commissioners
The inevitable has finally caught up with us, it seems. You might have heard the news that our local commissioners have decided to bump up rates by a whopping 23.6%. I had a chat with Chairman Duncan Livingstone, and it's clear that this wasn't a decision taken lightly. 3FM

Weather warning for heavy rain today
The weather's looking a bit grim for us today, I'm afraid. A warning's been issued for heavy rain, and it's set to kick in at lunchtime today, lasting right through until the early hours of tomorrow morning. So, if you've got any outdoor plans, you might want to think about postponing them. 3FM

FC Isle of Man secure win at home
The beautiful game was in full swing at The Bowl on Saturday, and our very own FC Isle of Man came out on top with a hard-fought 1-0 win over Euxton Villa. I have to say, it was a bit of a nail-biter, but the Ravens managed to keep their cool and secure the three points. The decisive moment came courtesy of Jacob Crook, whose shot took a clever deflection and found its way into the back of the net in the 73rd minute. Manx Radio Sport

You know how it is when the government reshuffles and everyone's wondering what's going on? Well, that's exactly what's happening now with the latest changes to the Council of Ministers.
