2024 PENDLETON ROUNDUP
Unlike last year, which was unseasonably hot, this year’s Roundup featured nearly perfect rodeo weather. Last year I went all out with a super duper long lens for my camera, capturing action shots that I would have otherwise missed. This year I constrained the equipment that I brought.
1 small fixed lens camera.
My phone.
An acoustic guitar.
An analog journal/sketchbook with basic supplies.
I’m happy with the results. Read more here.
MORE CAT STATUES!
I found two more statues.

You can see all of the cat statues that I’ve found so far here. As mentioned in a prior newsletter, these were created by local artists and will be auctioned off with proceeds going to a local children’s hospital. I just noticed yesterday that the cat statue nearest our house has disappeared, so I’m assuming that they have all returned to their feline homes getting ready to be adopted by new owners.
AUTUMN MEANS COOKING WITH PUMPKINS OR OTHER WINTER SQUASH
A vegan curry with acorn squash. This can easily be un-veganized by replacing the chickpeas with something like shredded chicken.

Moroccan pumpkin with lentils. You could replace the lentils with chicken or whatever but I think the lentils work perfect here, even if you serve this as a side dish.

Just make sure you use a sugar, or pie, type of pumpkin instead of a jack-o-lantern! (There’s nothing wrong with using a jack-o-lantern pumpkin, but I think the smaller sugar or pie pumpkins have better flavor)
ANNUAL PELIKAN FOUNTAIN PEN EVENT=HUGE SUCCESS!
