Revisiting Old Notebooks

We’ve all flipped through old photos while sharing memories and laughs with those around us.
Reviewing old notebooks is the same type of experience.
I’ve reviewed some notes from 2002 to 2012 and am inspired and proud of some of my writing. I’ve shared a few in recent blog posts. I hope you take a moment to read them.
For other notes, I have summarized and rewritten some of them onto index cards. These index cards make up my “spark file” for yet to be defined future projects: songs, stories, poems, essays, and so forth.
A Spark File is nothing more than a collection of ideas. Collect first. Curate and figure out how to use them later.

Inktober

Inktober is a monthly event which celebrates the joy of drawing only in pen and ink. A prompt for each day of the month is provided, and it’s up to you to decide what you want to draw. More details on the event, and sample of some of my work, are shown here.
Sketchbook Flip Through

In addition to my notebook collection, I also have sketchbooks filled mostly with drawings and watercolors. Inktober rekindled my interest in drawing with pen and ink. During the event I completed a sketchbook that I had been using for roughly a year, and started a new one in mid-October. That second sketchbook I just finished, after only 5 weeks!
A 20 second video link to my sketchbook flipthrough is here. If you turn your volume up you can hear an intro to The Girl from Ipanema, performed by The Lost Remotes.
